First off this took place just a few rounds ago (31486). I was playing as usual when all the sudden the server lagged and forced my sprite to walk straight into an open resin door and right next to a hivelord. Once the server went back to normal, that hivelord proceeded to try and capture me, despite knowing that I had no control over my actions due to the server lagging. I even wrote down in LOOC “wtf” as I tried to escape due to how unfair it was. (I got captured in the end because of it)
I proceeded to ahelp, and one of them (who I’ll not name) just gave me the cold shoulder saying “Unfortunately it counts. We don’t refund kills due to the server lagging EVEN IF IT WAS ON OUR END”. Atleast they apologized for it.
So does this mean that admins can just do whatever the fuck they want in thunderdome and lag the server? I’m not saying that they should upgrade the server or some shit but there should atleast be some form of player protection or relief when it comes to things we have no control over LIKE THE SERVER BREAKING. Aren’t they supposed to provide a good player experience? How can they do that if the server that keeps breaking keeps fucking us over? Sorry if this may sound like I’m attacking the staff but there should be atleast some form of relief for players other than saying “No sorry we can’t do that” without explanation.
if the hivelord could cap you, the server probably was not lagging, you were lagging. we don’t compensate for lag as it is impossible to know if a specific user was actually lagging, or if they were saying they were lagging. simply a matter of fairness
It was. I asked dchat regarding it and some experienced it too apparently. I’d post screenshots but my feed already got buried. I was basically locked in movement while everyone else froze :PP

I died multiple times both as marine and xenomorph (including Queen) to mass server-lag once. Was it admins doing something in tdome? No. Was it a shitty situation that I was pretty upset about? Yeah. You just get over with it and move on.
Plus, how about people who didn’t lag and are trying to ride on the wave of people saying they did? Are they supposed to be compensated for something? As the literal Host told above, they can’t tell whether you actually lagged or not, unless they specifically watched you I suppose.
We can’t do anything. We can’t prove if you lagged to your death and even if we could it is not a requirement to take action to correct these things, as draconian as it sounds. Typically in the cases of massive lag people will try to mitigate attacks on SSD players, eg if everyone crashes but it’s not a guideline or requirement.
The thunderdome is also rather unlikely to cause massive server lag, I don’t know the specifics of your situations and yeah it sucks I’ve died to lag a lot because I live in the middle of nowhere Australia but ultimately it’s whatever. The same also extends to things like specialist tokens - you are very unlikely to get a spec token if the server crashes because they’re usually only handed out if a staff member directly damaged your round rather than ‘server issues’.
I suppose all of this ramble is just ‘need to live with it’ but I’m not really certain what other recourse can be offered.
I’ve killed more than multiple T3s after the server lagged and they hadn’t reconnected. It’s my way of paying back the fact that I could disconnect at random times due to my modem being weird and then finding myself being dragged by Elder Runner to a Young Carrier that doesn’t know how to place down facehuggers
