Description of the incident:
I write this report essentially due to the player in question Simon ‘Ghost’ Mcshain purposely deserting his role as a SADAR and ignoring orders from command and eventually just fighting predators far away from the front until his eventual death and BE,

During a standard operation on LV-624 our forces were on a routine battle in pushing back the enemy front. I usually like to take a look at SL and specialist positions when I noticed the Alpha SADAR wandering the jungles alone. I gave him specific orders to get to the front which he never replied to. Fast forward we are continuing to make gains outside the western caves, I look and see the SADAR is walking around the outside of the FOB. I ask him what he is doing and he replies ‘I have no rockets’. I say okay and tell the RO to order rockets. Fast forward once again, I look at him. He’s walking with two IOs around near nexus. I tell him to get to the front, never hear a response.

Finally we are in the caves, the queen is killed and if I recall only around 7-8 xenos remained as per ARES scan. The issue is the xenos had two skilled ravagers bottle-necking our forces along with a boiler. We needed at least a good RPG hit or something so I cam to the SADAR, and there he is full gear off and his RPG thrown to the side fighting in front of the sand temple far eastern beaches. He is with one Bravo marine who notoriously killed many predators that round. I try and tell the SADAR to get to the frontlines and he quite literally never says a word. The only reply I ever got was from the bravo marine with him saying he was making sure the SADAR was okay.

Shortly after the front collapses, 1 queen and 2 ravs flank the front and decimate everyone including the XO who I sent down to hopefully rally a charge. Everyone is dead pretty much. I order every marine back to the FOB to prepare for either an evacuation or a hold. The SADAR doesn’t move, he continues to brawl naked with the predators on the far eastern beach with his RPG just thrown to the side. I make announcements telling him he abandoned his duties just in case he removed his comms and he still stays with the predators. He never moves until he was eventually killed by mortar fire and the predator dragged his dead corpse back. From there he was brought up and BEd for desertion. He was later ahealed and given BE immunity (I will speak about this next)

I am not saying the SADAR could have 100% turned the round, but even one good RPG hit could have possibly broken the few good xeno players still holding the front. Specialists are very vital anti-xeno weapons and there is reason they are required to follow command’s orders. He essentially abandoned his position to act as a PFC pred hunter, which frankly I would not have cared if he did in fact do it as a PFC role.

I also wish to make it clear, I was told this was handled ingame by an admin, Moonshanks. However, that same admin was also playing as a Provost and frankly should have not handled the situation with the specialist from my point of view due to conflict of interest and frankly with all that was going on, the inability to understand the entire picture. In fact after I had BEd the SADAR spec onboard the Almayer the said admin ahealed them without further review into the situation and told me they could be only be arrested for desertion but not executed anymore, essentially BE immunity. I understand there may have been confusion and spoke with them via discord and they agreed regarding their mistake and I could proceed with a player report.

This section should be a Staff report if you believe I stepped outside the staff’s code of conduct.

However I did tell you in game you should make a Player report, then I handled it briefly and told you not to make one. After this in discord we chatted for a bit. You asked if you could make a player report to which I replied you could, as the solution I chose wasn’t a warning/ban (I ran this by dubs).

I don’t think I acted outside of staff’s code of conduct. I asked for help in Msay for ahelps several times. I didn’t ping on the discord which I could’ve done but my round was very busy handling other ahelps.

Laslty, it is within my power as staff to decide if a something is a rulebreak or not. I didn’t find enough evidence in the limited time to suggest that the end user had wasted their spec slot enough to warrant OOC punishment. But I did warn them not to continue their behaviour again in a spec slot as it would probably get them in trouble. And I did mention in discord that a PR would be able to uncover anything I had missed due to the ticketload.

I do not think that the SADAR’s actions were involved enough within my provost investigation to warrant having another staff handling it OOC. You chose to BE the SADAR via motar, I then contacted a councillor to ask them for the best course of action in performing an arrest, and followed it. Your choices in how you act don’t effect my ability to moderate.

To be clear. I do think there is a chance that the reported player was LRP, or wasted a slot, but that that wasn’t readily apparent in the time I had to make the investigation.

And lastly. There was a mistake I made where I ahealed the SADAR once they had come back to the ship and been revived then appropriately BE’d.

I apologise for that, I was not aware at the time that they had been revived then BE’d a second time, I thought that they had been transported from the field dead straight to the morgue.

I was the mentioned Bravo marine that was with the SADAR. I spent a majority of every interaction with him telling him to go to the front, and his excuse time after time was “Req won’t give me rockets”. He was incredibly LRP. Several times throughout the round he was begging me to take him to the predators as if I knew where they were. He flat out refused to leave them alone, and he clearly didn’t care about his role as the RPG specialist.

I do not think I have anything that would add to this other than the fact that req, when I checked, did not send down any crates. Other than that feel free to make your ruling

Specialists and Squad Leaders are required to follow orders. In this case, this specialist did not follow orders. Player will be receiving a heavy warning to follow orders as Specialist in the future.
