Yes, I generally like to have these up when on such roles anyway to refer to as well.
Why do you wish to become a Fax Responder?
It’s something I always engaged in heavily when I was staff, it was rather unpopular to do and often replies from staff could be one dimensional. I was one of the few people with custom fax designs to help shape the world, narrative and experience of the players in it. Even outside of staff, I enjoyed the paperwork aspect of things as an MP, even in times where it was difficult to do so (thankfully Forest has been mega based and has been working on streamlining it for a long time)
It makes me sad when I see well-tailored faxes left on the vine to spoil, especially when the roleplay it led from has been organic. My time as a fax responder during the test was enjoyable, and while the tools are more limited than when I was staff, it’s still fun to help create that “real world” feeling for the players. Fighting the expectation that many of us have when we send a fax off and we know at the back of our minds, we may as well be sending it to a shredder for all intents and purposes.
What do you consider the purpose of this role?
To represent the faction, of course, but also to make the world feel alive, interacting with players in good faith as believable characters, who are just “elsewhere” rather than feeling like they vanish as soon as the communication stops. Also, I think it reduces the workload for staff, which is always nice as sometimes they just want to play or have other things to handle.
When would you consider it appropriate to use your phone?
Well, it’s exceptional reasons only.
So, I’d likely seek staff permission to be on the safe side.
If playing WY Responder, what objectives do you consider within your power to give the CL?
Usually non invasive objectives, so things like “Speak with the Reporter, try to alter his narrative to be more pro corporation, get statements from the surviving colonists” and so on
If playing Press Responder, what objectives do you consider within your power to give the CC?
It would be objectives to forward player on player roleplay, so faxes on "Do an interview with the colonists, encourage the CC to find a sensationalist angle, and things such as interviewing shipside staff,
What is your playtime in Command Roles?
175 hours(ish), (pre tracker time much higher as playing command roles since 2016,
What is your playtime in Military Police Roles?
508 hours(ish) (pre tracker time much higher as playing MP roles since 2016)
What is your playtime in Corporate Liaison?
8.8 hours (Played mostly pre tracker days, however Ive spent a stupid amount of time observing to send WY faxes)
What is your playtime in Civil Roles?
0, however may be a bug as I’ve played at least 2-3 rounds of the role.
What, if any, is your playtime in Special Roles?
I have play time in a wide array of these roles, once again, majority are pre-tracker days, however I’ve also played them since, mostly Provost roles such as Provost Chief Marshal, Provost Advisor, Provost Marshal, Provost Sector Marshal, Provost Enforcer, Provost Team Leader, as well as the more traditional high command roles sent in.
I’ve also been sent in as Weyland Yutani lawyers, executives and representatives, as well as TWE/UPP equivalents
