Currently working on new armor for research and i gave them very big weakness against electric shocks.
And i though: Hey, why dont we have a xeno that has something to do with electricity?
Would also give a nice thing for xenos to use against the armor, and we would finally have a spitter strain.
There are enough animals that are using Electrogenesis to hunt, so it wouldnt be unreslitic for xenomoprhs -121 to expand on it. Their whole deal after all is to improve incredibly the feautures of their hosts.
Im not gonna creat a proper design document for this already, i just want to hear some feedback on this. Im probably gonna slowly devolp this post into a proper deisgn document with the provided feedback, as i tent to do.
Current abilitys: (Im seeing what sticks, this will 100% change)
Electric charge that builds up via: Movement/Attacking.
Electric Charge is used for all its abilitys as a recoruce that is spend.
Long range attack V1: that deplets full charge build up, chaining longer the more charge is used.
Long range attack V2: Charged up ability that uses up build up charge the longer its hold. Scaling the damage applied to the target with the used up charge.
Wet targets let current jump. And lets say having acid on you counts as wet for combo potential.
Short range attack that uses part of the charge to stun the target (like sentinal stinger)
Gains charge when destroying APCs/ Drains charge from active APCs
Electirc shocks dont work if wearer has high enough insulation (yes this means comtecs are somewhat safer)
Though about it having a long range chip damage ability, but the strain needs to be diffrent from the main cast. So that wont be happening.
And as a treat, have some of the results that came up when i looked for electric xenos pics.
Also, doesnt have to be a spitter strain. Could also be a senti strain. Heck, maybe even a new cast. If it where a T3 there could also be much cooler abilitys included.
Could actually do something with this. Give it an electrified spitter charged attack, but if you spray it with water 1-3 times (how ever many would be balanced) it gets stunned for x amount of seconds.
This could also make that one attack much stronger then usual since it has a pretty good counter to it.
The fire extuingisher bit is actually pretty smart.
Like, you can already cover mobs in reagents.
So if the strain is coverd in water, it could for example not gain new charge until the water evaporated after some time.
Marines that are coverd in water get some bonus damage type thing. Making crossing even clean rivers dangerous. Also would be funny af to get a multi kill from marines chilling in a pool.
The extinguisher is just a pretty fucking amazing idea the more i think about it.
Only wouldnt make it a hard stun, only a soft if at all. Extinguisher can be easily spammed after all. Imagine how marines would stun lock the poor xeno. That shit would not be fun.
I rather play with its charge.
That it is main recource for all its abilitys after all.
I think I’m gonna be the fun killer, but if staff doesn’t want to add combat powerloaders, because they are “silly” and CM will become “gungdams” then I highly doubt electrical alien will be approved.
Especially since there is no electrical xenos is “serious” alien lore.
Unless one of the higher staff GF asks for such alien to exist, then maybe, just like the dreaded “r” word was banned.
Really just go with “sticky” sentinel/spitter idea that I made in some sentinel thread if you are thirsty for new strains for them.
Nah, i’d much prefer some sort of electrical xeno tbh. And strains by themselves are already kinda silly, with the vampire strain, and eggmorpher carrier. Both of which are OC don’t steal, with one of them just breaking canon by itself.
Funny that you say it like that. Because fun thing. To keep it lore friendly its need to be somewhat based on an animal that has Electrogenesis. And fun fact, geckos use electrogenesis to keep their hands sticking to surfaces.
And who owns a gecko? Maybe our discord manager? Someone that could be bribed with including certain feautures of his little friend maybe?
It is not that there are none in canon, of course there are. But I was (and still are) a big advocate for combat loaders in CM and I’m just stating what answers I got, which is CM would become “silly Gungdams” if combat loaders were ever introduced.
It doesn’t drink blood, it is just as much vampire as boiler is an actual boiler. Again, it is not up to me, it is up to staff. And this is kinda consistent, because staff before was against tank and tank was introduced, then they were against APC and APC got introduced, they they were against trucks and trucks were introduced.
Poor little combat loader will never be added, even though two combat loaders would be much, much better than bringing back tank.
Almayer is poor as shit, but all it takes to have a combat loader is to take one of many powerloaders that Almayer already has and weld M56D and some scrap metal onto the frame to have a ghetto combat loader.
Do it professionally and you have certified military grade combat loader.
Dumb gimmick weapon that has not much reason to exsist besides, gimmick. I would guess at least.
I mean yes, it would be fun. But you have to think about how to implement the loader into the regular gameplay loop. Rigth now it doesnt work at all for that.
Would be better if you where to design from the ground up a combat mech.
