Split bravo

ive been reading the big ASS thread, which brought up a problem that non-bravo squads STILL get put on comms duty in the big 2025… in 2026 we should solve this issue. Make bravo 2 squads. Bravo 1 (FOB) and Bravo 2 (Comms). this way no other squad is unjustly forced to do fob or comms duty ever again!!!

Bravo is the build, bloons tower defense, backline, and afk squad and the other squads are not so there’s no point in making other squads fob/comms.

I don’t see this as an issue. Why split Bravo into two squads when fireteams exist? Not to mention with the addition of Kilo and Oscar as well as Charlie in support group, command may assign one of those squads to carry out comms duty (just like Charlie used to have comms duty for most of the time)

Bravo is pretty much always FOB unless they are heavily low on numbers so in this case I can see why other squads would be assigned to help with FOB. This alone is pretty rare though and usually happens on low-pop rounds.

As for comms, well that depends on command itself to decide which squad gets comms duty. Usually it’s Bravo as well. Sometimes it’s Kilo/Oscar or Charlie. This might depend on how well staffed Bravo squad is or personal preferences of XO/CO.

In conclusion Bravo in 99% cases will get FOB/Comms duty anyway and what you suggest can be done via fireteams. If you join squads Charlie,Kilo or Oscar you should assume there is a chance you will get comms duty…FOB duty is pretty much never going to happen in high-pop rounds.

Well and who’s gonna play those squads? Why would anyone play Bravo these days?

The big Bravo of old was pretty fun, because it could play proactively. With the advent of ASS, all that fun got stripped away from Bravo. People noticed that and way less people are rolling it.

And when Bravo is 1 SL, 0 techs, 5 total, is command really being unreasonable by putting some other squad on the comms?

Make bravo 2 squads. Bravo 1 (FOB) and Bravo 2 (Comms).

thats called utilizing the fireteam system

how about people should be utilizing the fireteam system more, especially when ive done work on expanding it and on the FTL role and tests have proven that the system work as intended but ONLY and ONLY if people utilize it
Leadership Changes: Fireteam Additions by Nihisohel · Pull Request #10973 · cmss13-devs/cmss13

so help me god use it, or it may become really compelling to force people into their own fireteams on roundstart

Can’t wait to see how 3 bravos out of 6 go setup comms alone and get ganked by 3 prime woyers. Further splitting up and ASSing squads can be easily exploited by competent Queens and hive. You need ATLEAST a squad on comms duty, and even then, it is quite dangerous considering they have no comms to call for help.

You’re assuming that everyone in Bravo wants to be in Bravo. The actual % of Bravo who stay on FOB or Backline or Comms is easily below 30%. Plus…

This isn’t stopped by splitting Bravo or sending COK to Comms, since they have no SG or Specialist for huge damage output.

Considering COK guys are more outfitted for frontline than their bravo counterpart, having 3 or 8 dudes with some hedp/breaches/ap mags/flamer is a huge difference.

Also specs and SGs are too overrated. All it takes is one hedp and ap mag of m41a for all T2s and most T3s. Fear rp is the biggest enemy.

There’s nothing happening at the comms like 90% of the time. Plus if you split an already small COK squad in half, both halves just gonna be way too small to be even partially efficient. And consider the snowflake mentality of the OK players. Thus basically the only reasonable way of doing comms guard now if Bravo is not big enough(it won’t be) is sending A or D, getting them to leave a fireteam and then hoping that they’ll have the organizational power to rotate that team(they won’t).

Interesting. Glad I will actually be able to be apart of the test.

If you wanted to give bravo more job responsibility in handling primary comms AND fob, you’d need to give them more comtech slots compared to other squads, so they can actually set up competent fire teams that aren’t lopsided and unable to do a lot of tasks.

Honestly, it is tough as the support squads to even do your assigned jobs if it isn’t “patrol the backline”. I’ve been filling FTL and just taking tools, meds and stuff to be the jack of all trades because unless it’s literally peak hours, you get like… 2 riflemen, and even then sometimes we go down at peak hours with 3-4 riflemen and no comtech/corpsman. I’ve also been noticing a lack of SLs for the support squads as well, usually only one of the support squads has a proper squad lead. Usually it’s an aSL, and that’s if CIC even has the brainpower to set an aSL, which a lot of the time they don’t because they have even more on their plate than before.

A lot of this is just player/population issues though.

if people are choosing to not engage with it, forcing them to is just gonna make people unassign FTs at round start more often than not, or they might just ignore it and set tracker to SL anyways
