Description of the incident:

Not a complaint. Want to provide context to correct the note made since it makes it seem a lot worse. Want to at least to correct the note so I might have an easier time appealing this in 6 months.

Here’s the full wording:
“Metagaming: As ghost, watched ghost for several minutes as said scout was breaking into hive. After some xenos called out broken hive core in hivemind, joined as a facehugger and went to hunt for scout, almost immediately dying to one of his custom mines. When questioned, fully admitted to the deed, but reasoned that it was reported in the hivemind, it should be known to the hive including facehuggers.”

First of all, hive core was at the podlocks of the map and it had been broken at that point and was on cooldown.

The nest that was in sand temple had two marines and a HIVE CLUSTER. I was waiting there since hive core was taken down at the podlocks and waiting to respawn as a lesser drone. Then scout comes into temple and he throws a few nades into the cluster and an egg morpher plus one of the nests to free someone. I continue to wait since didn’t want to rush him and be accused of metagaming.

I move back and forth between the battle at west labs and the sand temple to see when a core would be made to join as a lesser.

Eventually, a lurker and runner come back with caps and then said that temple was gone. I continue to wait a bit before finally joining as a hugger. The runner screams scout in hive the moment I spawn and a larva moves a bit and dies to a custom mine in front of me. I walk around trying to see if scout is still around and accidentally trigger a mine.

Evidence:

Hivemind, Prime Runner (KO-998-BA)(F) hisses, ‘Hive?’
Hivemind, Defender (NU-466)(F) hisses, ‘Temple destroyed’
Hivemind, Lurker (BAE-847)(F) hisses, ‘It’s scout.’
Hivemind, Prime Runner (KO-998-BA)(F) hisses, ‘CAP LOOSE.’

You emerge out of the egg morpher and awaken from your slumber. For the Hive!
You will now use Leap with middle click.
Hivemind, Prime Runner (KO-998-BA) (watch) hisses, ‘SCOUT HIVE.’
Bloody Larva (460) scuttles underneath the thick resin door!
The custom mine clicks as Bloody Larva (460) moves in front of it.
Bloody Larva (460) is hit by the shrapnel in the left arm!
Bloody Larva (460) lets out a waning guttural screech, green blood bubbling from its maw.
Hive: Bloody Larva (460) has died at Sand Temple!
Zion Howe is scalded with hissing green blood!
The custom mine clicks as you move in front of it.

I’m going to comment on this as I was the scout, Aldrik Wynters.

While the term hive core might be incorrect, it was still the core of the hive. There were 3-4 caps, a cluster, egg morphers, all the placed eggs, etc.
Secondly, I appericate you owning up to the UAV bit. It was really frustrating…

Which… brings me to the next part. I am almost certain that everyone had lost me until you ran into the custom mine and I was forced to move to avoid dying.

HOWEVER. That being said, as the person affected by this incident, I am 1000% in agreeance that the note should be worded a little less severe. He owned what he did.
It also wasn’t like… I was sitting a locker and he instantly ran up to the locker and made it clear I was there, or that I was sneaking in a corner and he UAV’ed straight to me. He was reasonable in the way he went, and he saw a custom mine go off and kill the larva (which, hell yeah, i didnt know I got that larva).

TLDR. I appericate owning it. I am clearly not a staff member, BUT, I would be understanding if the language was lessoned/not upset as the person affected.

Again, thank you for owning up! I appericate it!

Heya!

I looked into the incident and the logs surrounding it.

I get that you present yourself listening to the hivemind and looking for the scout as context. But considering that there are only 10 seconds between you joining as a facehugger and dying to the custom mine I dont consider that to be relevant enough to take into account. Its not like you were attentively listening to that stuff as a facehugger or that your hunt took any sort of significant amount of time.

I also both agree with the ban placed, as you have a history of metagaming, and the note that was applied. The note seems accurate and good natured.
Especially since it also includes “While the point has some merit, acting on ghost information is a textbook example of metagaming.” at the end of the note. Something that you neglected to mention in your quote of the note.

Anyways I dont see any sort of staff misconduct, failure to follow protocol or wrong enforcement of the rules here. Therefore I will be denying this report. No action will be taken and both the ban and ban note will stay in place.
