The drone doesn’t have a choice. It either evolves to queen or dies, it is simply HRP drone because it has a choice because it’s currently not under control of a queen.

Well the thing was “hey synth tell this drone to evo to queen or we shoot it” so guess why it would die.
And the drone, realizing that living is a fate worse then the death its gonna get, is not gonna evo to help the humans.
You cannot force a xeno to do anything with a threat, not should that xeno even care if you threaten it. It wants to claw your eyes out and make the hive prosper. The only reason you can “argue” and have a talk with Greenos, is because you have geneticly corrupted them so that they are able, and the fact that they are the only ones in that splintered hive.

I don’t like it because it puts the fate of the entire xeno side in the hands of one single drone player. You can just say “they shouldn’t evolve to queen” but what if it’s a new player that doesn’t know any better? Congratulations you’ve just taken advantage of a new player’s inexperience to cause them to grief their whole side. If your entire “strategy” is to try and trick a player into massively griefing their side then I don’t think that’s good. Imagine if xenos had a way to trick PVTs into making a round-ruining decision for the marines, I don’t think people would be happy about that.

Thats even worse then having a marine main agreeing to it. You are litterary exploiting a noobie to fuck up his game (he will be trapped in the forever box since he dosn’t know he can even escape it).
Me when i trick the PO to only FF the frontline, saying i will spare him. Don’t worry, its HRP since the PO wants to live.

Now that I think about it, a function should be an added to de-evo as queen for such scenarios? Also isn’t queen time locked?
I’m pretty sure the queen timelock only applies to round start queen. Evolving as drone I think bypasses it, although I haven’t checked the code so I could be wrong
Roundstart queen is locked. Evoing into queen is not. I can say this, since the first time i went xeno i had to evo into queen (i got smushed by the dropship on ice).

Yes, but its entirely dependant on either decieving a newbie into griefing the hive, or agreeing with a greifer to grief the hive. There is no good strategy in this. Its just waiting for devs to make it so normal xenoes can’t evo into queen shipside.

Guessing a way to bypass this is to automatically disown the xeno and change it to feral with an option of it to stay feral or return to normal if it gets on the same level(groundside/shipside) as the queen after which it sticks with it.

I remember the round. Was around round end. If steel means the same round as me at least.
Research somehow captured a runner in the cells.
With a lot of RP they “tamed” the runner and got it to evolve into a queen while the normal hives queen was dead.
Dead chat was cheerying the whole time for them to become a tamed or corupted queen then.
Apperently forest first said no, so some said in deadchat, but then plot twist as the now drone evolved into a queen it became a “corpupted mutaded queen”. Green wiki queen sprites. Sadly round ended rigth then and there.
But belive me, the whole RP alone was reward enough. That greeno mutaded would go down to figth along marines would have been just been the cream on top.
So moral of the story. Put some effort into RP and you see some quirky ideas migth work.
