The GL should not be allowed to give out his armour.

If I want a rocket reloaded by the loader, I first need to tell them what rocket (if they even have it), and then wait for them to move behind me and actually load it, which takes up so much time it’s basically always faster to load it myself.

If you have a very competent SADAR and loader, the loader is marginally faster, but in almost every other scenario it’s just not worth it. Loaders are basically just bodyguards and ammo mules.

I tired sadar like last month since no one else picked it, someone asked me to be my loader, sure why not. Then they were criticizing me for using WP rockets as my secondary type. Till I PB’d a Prae (or it was a boiler I dont remember) with one and finished it off with my M39. If you want to do the job why are you questioning the spec you’re working for?

Yeah when I play loader half the time the SADAR legit just stops asking me to load halfway and starts loading on their own lmao

Part of it is just SADARs not knowing how it actually works (SADARs should say “AP, HE, WP, MAXCAP” after you fire and secure a kill immediately, that way I don’t need to wait 5 seconds to go “What rocket?”, as well as STOP wriggling around and WIELD the damn boomtube, because the loader can only load if they are BEHIND the SADAR WHILE they are wielding it, something very few people know because no one ever uses loader for loading.), so it’s kind of a Catch 22 or negative feedback loop where you need SADARs who understand how loading works, but to get that you need the loading mechanic to actually be worth using, which currently requires SADARs to understand how loading works…

So I’ve mostly found it to be just a battle buddy role- Stick close to the SADAR, make sure they don’t die, retrieve their corpse even if it’s a suicide mission, and above all else, grab an M39 + AP and secure every single kill they hit (this is probably the most important thing to do, because God knows PVT Stanley won’t do it with his M10.)

At least the spotter does stuff for the sniper by making aimed shots faster, but even then 50% of the time it’s just either a battle buddy role or “grab only the sight and go frag” role.

In my personal opinion, if specialist buddies are a thing then they ought to be an integral part of it, rather than a PFC+ kit duct taped to the side. The current system works to be sure, but it honestly just feels out of place and ‘there for the sake of being there’ rather than a mechanic you have to interact with.

Like many things in CM, the problem isnt that its very unbalanced, but thats its difficult to read, you can see the little antenna on the GL helmet, but if GL goes light they generally grab the helm.

A PFC with GL armor looks an aweful lot like heavy armor, xenos cant examine, and pouncing it as runner is basically RIP right there if you get bonked, most of the time same goes for lurk but with a little more wiggle room, but if they have a competent player semi near you are toast.

Just give xenos full examine already, or make it limited to external gear only, its kinda shit to have to suss out if someones wearing NVs or not by walking around in the dark, same goes for UBs, you have to play with the expectation that any mk2/1 will UB stun you in close combat, so you have to dip and play around map geometry and feed into the cavehugging strat even more.

It would make little for balance, but give xenos a little bit of breathing room for weirdo shit like thermals/UB/GL armor, reading without examine is still a skill and examining in close quarters is both hard and time consuming in a cqc situation so it doesnt kill that skill either.

Just say “Load WP” and they already pulled it out and started loading before u typed it, that’s a good loader. Especially one that knows how to keep you safe

Good loader loads AP when you ask for WP, because AP is the only worthwhile rocket and you should learn that.

its not hard unless ur a turbo noob but you might want to find someone who you know is at least moderately competent at the videogame just like any Spec partner.

thats not hard though you could do this with anyone who just puts in a little tiny bit of effort into the game and actually wants to work with you.

By having eyes because its not that complex, there’s only 3 rocket types and 2 have contrasting usecases which are obvious (HE and AP) and even wp has situations where its gonna be the obvious choice (maybe because of ammo scarcity or mix of targets).
(just tell them “prepare to load up AP before I even ask right when I shoot” when in prep for example and if they’re good they might expand that to HE or WP and assume what u want to load based on the situation (ie: see queen load ap, see t2s load he)

after that u just type 2 letters and if they got the wrong 2 letters already loading they swap

I like loaders because its soul, not because its effective.

Having a good loader that talks to you while he loads your SADAR, sticks with you like glue, and goes through hell and back to keep you safe is worth more than the actual utility of the load mechanic.

If yall playing with a Loader just for his ability to load your rockets, you are playing it wrong. He is your eternal battle buddy who will charge the ENTIRE HIVE just to sacrifice himself so someone can drag you out, not your pack mule. Treat them as such and I guarantee your SADAR rounds will be way more interesting.

A lot of words to describe a metabuddy.

I do not know what it is so hard in this fact to accept, total strangers with 7 tiles vision (reduced further by darkness) and text chat can’t cooperate on the levels required to be even remotely better than just doing everything on your own.

There simply is too little information presented to any individual player in a “cooperation” and can only be relayed incredebly slowly in comparsion to the speed of any battlefield.

It could be changed to work better by sort off bypassing those bottlenecks. Just put some thought behind it.
What if spec decided about everything, but the presence of loader speeds it up. It is spec who chooses each rocket and when to load it as per usuall, but loader can came up (not necessairly from behind) and click on him with empty hand on help intent to speed up the process.

This would simulate them cooperating at a high level ICly.

e: maybe this explains why people talk about metabuddies all the time when they see people not FFing each other and doing teamwork. I guess xenos are all metabuddies by that token (holy shit this explains all the xenocord takes)

I got to say it is a bit silly when the queen gibs a survivor to remove their thermals so the marines later don’t get to loot the survs for it.

Can any marine pick up and use the GL armor? If so, yea that’s a bit broken. Although just having sadar be bonk proof sounds like a nightmare.
