I mean if you think from the standpoint imagine needing knowledge on how to wear an oversized armour piece. Also the GL grenade launcher can’t be fired from close range so it doesn’t even matter if they wear armour or not unless they commit an oopsies and fire into a wall and even then they’ll get stunned long enough to be tackled through the 8 marines they just FF’ed.

So the best usage of GL is giving it to a John backliner who it’ll actually save 60 times before the xeno’s give the fuck up and call john warrior to kill and decap him.

A bold move to call somebody you see a lot play the game and not fuck up constantly a “metabuddy”

In SS13 and CM13 to be precise? Fuck no, it is pretty much standard move for a guy with working atleast half a brain.

Current loader needs to be a metabuddy to be faster/better/more efficient than spec alone. This isn’t a case for spotter, so besides having NVG all the time (instead of just on his special binocs) and cloaking everywhere (instead just in close proximity to sniper) he is perfect.
And that is because spotter mechanics don’t require being a psychic, or a metabuddy. You see sniper aiming at something, you spot it too, you see a wounded xeno in line of sight of sniper, you spot it, you see Queen/Boiler/T3 xeno, you spot it. More or less in that order of importance, you don’t need to type words to cooperate with sniper in that way.

maybe this explains why people talk about metabuddies all the time when they see people not FFing each other and doing teamwork.

All the time? I checked the forum, you can do it yourself, search: “metabuddy”.
This thread has used this word, then somebody in feburary in some thread about mass casualities, then I talked about metabuddies in January in a thread about stims and potential abuse from metabuddies.
Then there is the latest report where metabuddying was mentioned. Then it was few posts in November, one of them mine in acid goop.
Then I checked CM discord server and “metabuddy” doesn’t show more than a couple of “posts?(whatever discord message is called)” a day, with few day gaps between and most of those mentions are jokes, sarcastic, or copypastas.

So where is that “all the time” talk about metabuddies? In your private discord channel?

My post was indicating I’m clearly out of step with the term; in my mind a metabuddy is somebody you know from outside the gameplay/lobby of the server, who you basically have had some amount of out-of-game discussion with in order to clarify plans/strategy. Metacomming is simply a step up from this where it happens while the game is going on.

e: My point was that you can have a discussion, in game, on your expected order for rockets/situations to load certain things. Of course this is not gonna be as efficient as you doing shit yourself, especially with hotkeys, server lag, and the huge downside to stopping to type (terrifyingly enough, my only mental solution for this problem is voice chat), but it’s positive interaction with another player. I’m in favor of things that encourage players to work together instead of operating as indiviual units, particularly for marines. If anything, loader assistant speed should be faster than default self-loading.

Current loader requires a metabuddy to actually help SADAR in any meaningfull way other than being a rocket mule and a guard, which can be done by any random PFC just the same. I advocate for change, a rework of sorts. Look at spotter for inspiration.
