Yes because it’s the same logic as a bow, and unlike a vehicle you don’t drive it.
No because that’s like calling yourself John A.W Saturday night special, nicknames don’t work (unless it’s something like Kalashnikov and even then that’s arguable because Kalashnikov is the inventor, the rifle is Avtomat Kalashnikov 47)
Nuclear bomb is the weapon type, it’s like A.W Assault rifle, you need a specfic name E.G John a.w Hotpoint.

“Nuclear bomb” is just as much a weapon type as “bow” is.
You can call any bow a “bow” but there is english longbow and such specific types like that.
You could call Zweihander a “sword”.
You could call bodkin arrow an “arrow”.
If “A.W. Arrow” and “A.W. Bow” are kosher, then “A.W. Nuclear Bomb” seems just as much, other than being made of two words.

with bows and such, they’re so old and there’s so many that some just end up being called it. like what type of bow is this guy holding?
you would just call it a bow and arrow, not really a type of bow.
where as with nukes it doesn’t work because there’s no nuke just called “nuclear bomb” and most people know that there’s different types E.G Hydrogen and atomic bombs.

There is no bow simply called a “bow”. There is no sword that is simply called a “sword”.
Sure, you can make one yourself, but they would still fall into some category of a bow, or sword.

true but calling a the little boy the mark 1 nuke is the same issue as with the bow there really as you over complicating. lads know what the little boy is and its clearer and more catchy than mark 1 nuke.
see also you can call that kind of bow a greenwood bow as its made from fresh green wood.

Given it took you nearly fifteen minutes, you clearly had to check what bow it was, proving that most people would just say “he’s holding a bow.” most people are just going to call it a bow, where as with nukes you got to be more specfic.
But little boy is not really an official designation is it?

Just as most people will call “Colt Single-Action Army” a “revolver” and “Mateba Autorevolver” a “revolver”.
And I am not watching this thread refreshing every minute to respond, I am watching YouTube and ocassionaly checking.
Even if I were and it took me 15 minutes to find that it is indeed a self bow, what does it matter?
“Bow” is just a type of a weapon just as “nuclear bomb” is. The same logic other than the fact that “nuclear bomb” is made out of two words.

Bow is a common name for all bows, most people will call a longbow a bow, and a self made bow a bow.
Nuclear bomb isn’t really the name of any particular Nuke, which all have specific names.
additionally nuclear bomb is much longer and doesn’t work as a name, as last names are, last names, and there’s only one word in a surname usually.

Thats why you go with the abreviation of “Nuke”. If someone sees a Longbow, they call it a bow. If somoene sees a tsar bomba AN602, they call it a nuke.

Man, most people will call nuclear bombs a “nuclear bomb”, maybe “atom bomb” is also popular, or “nuke”.
Any random person is just as likely to call “Fat Man”, or “Little Boy” a “nuclear bomb” as they are to call compound bow a “bow”.
Bow isn’t also really the name of any particular bow, which all types have specific names.

yes nuke works a lot better then “nuclear bomb”, but it still doesn’t really work as nuke is just a shortening of “nuclear” and nuclear refers to all sorts of things.
Most people will refer to it as “nuke” or A bomb or H bomb, not just “nuclear bombs” nuclear weapons sure, but nuclear bombs? not really.
A.W is a UA-W-Y program, they’re not going to be following the rules of european naming.
