I think looking at the game overall and how the system works: it’s impossible to enforce, and I think it’s part of the few unique gameplay designs that carry over combat across all servers (TG, Paradise, etc.) Mob blocking is just a part of SS13 combat as a whole, tbh
No way to enforce, it can be handled mechanically.
Just have the queen do a small channel and step over people. (Queen is 15-20 ft tall, you the 6 ft marine are not stopping her.) Or give her another skill that uses one set of her front arms and she moves things to the left or right of herself to clear the path.
Rav can step over, rav is what 8 ft to 15 ft?
Crusher also has skills and isn’t taller than the average man, but it is built different. (A rhino. You aren’t bodyblocking that either.)
But for arguments sake. Resource ← YT Video. That’s from a standstill, not even a charge, so good luck bodyblocking that.
Prae would also step over.
Boiler is actually relatively small in the grand scheme and its not fat.
The scenario in your opening post is largely a death due to negligence. Overextending and leaving marines alive or uninjured behind you shouldn’t go unpunished. Stay with the queen or the hoard and murderball.
Mob Blocking will most likely be here to stay, and mod collision disabled (Ghosted status) shouldn’t be added to any more xenos as of current
…However, I do think we should buff dancer, and lower the plasma cost and cooldown on her dodge ability slightly, to make dancer more relevant.
Can’t really remember the last time I came across a really annoying dancer as of recent. I don’t want it overbuffed, though… I am also for creating a new caste/ability that applies Ghosted status on a xeno (will be outlined purple with a purple trail as it moves) for a short period of time… maybe a new frontline drone buffer strain or… something?
would make sense if xenos pushed marines to the side instead of directly in front of them, could benefit marines when runners are pushing them all across the map too.
I didn’t mean the video was private, but it says “source: private” at the bottom of the screen, like some guy recorded it with their camera and posted it there themselves, without even removing the logo of the TV channel.
It’s not at all high risk. Not anymore than simply existing near xenos.
Worst case scenario, a second xeno grabs you from behind (Like a warrior) and you get spirited away to Brazil. This would have occurred regardless of if you were using your body to block a xeno from escaping.
Much more likely? You get slashed to bits or shot to death and the xeno dies with you. A medic grabs your corpse, does their thing, and you’re back on the frontline in roughly one to two minutes, or if you really got jacked up you go on a trip to medbay or a field hospital for surgery.
The fact marines are overall more durable in that they can be revived means any kind of sacrificial play is always worth it and rarely high risk.
It’s a high risk
Its either you die while body blocking and lose a limb.
Get grabbed by a woyer from behind while body blocking.
Get tackled by someone from behind.
Get twenty broken bones while body blocking.
Trying to factor wounds in is irrelevant if we’re trying to calculate risk.
I personally don’t give a shit about bodyblocking (If you get bodyblocked as a Queen you’re a doofus, you have funny one tap neuro with a two second cooldown. If you couldn’t escape the bodyblocker you wouldn’t have survived even if he wasn’t there) but people insinuating there’s any kind of risk reward calculation to bodyblocking is braindead retarded.
Outside of the low chance you lose a limb, or the even lower chance of getting decapitated, the only true risk to bodyblocking is that you get abducted, and if you were in a position where you could successfully be abducted then the fact you were bodyblocking someone very likely had little impact on your abduction, because you were already close enough to another xeno that could grab you and who had sufficient cover to drag you into the xeno lines without being shot themselves.
Marine wounds are so easily treated with even basic knowledge of the game from a medic that claiming the risk of gross mutilation at the claws of angry xenos is any kind of consequence besides taking a minute to go piss before coming back to play is silly.
Wounds are typically a non-issue, hilariously enough. I received fractures on every limb? Splint me up before hitting me with the paddles. Throw some IB surgery in there and I can see the fight through or live long enough to be of use before being carted off for surgery. Or left for dead.
There isn’t a perfect solution but allowing T3’s some ability/form of trample on based on intent would be… worth a test?
the last time body blocking was ‘fixed’ we got move stuns after xenos push you, leading to xenos just pushing you from FOB to caves instead of tackling or anything
i was thinking maybe the help intent shuffle for xenos would happen if the xeno was on green, no matter what the marine was on, so you just swap places
