If you haven’t seen it already, all weapons now have a worsened fire delay. Some guns I’d say it’s not really noticeable or really affects them. Others I would have to say truly screws over a weapon. Remember now, they say that they are doing this all in the name of balance and making way for the Full Auto Merge when it comes out. As of so far with it the M4RA is completely fucked up in my eyes. It takes about a full second or second and a half to fire the damn thing in scoped view. Truly ruined I say. What other guns have you guys seen are now completely fucked?

wait cant you still just… toggle to burst fire and use it like before? I thought the slower firerate only applied to full auto. Can you not use burst or semi anymore??
I’d need to test in game but I assume one issue will be if we are testing full auto alongside the increased click delay.
If we are at a point where the click delay PR is being TMed or merged, but the auto fire PR is still unmerged or only working for SMGs, its going to result in an out of whack balance since we are only getting half of the changes with the other half in limbo.
Personally, I am prepared to wait and give a lot of leeway to the maintainers as they try to effect these major balance changes, but I also concur that it can be frustrating to be suck in the middle of a major balance change.
No one likes being nerfed.
It just makes no sense to test this separately or nerf gun RoF as a whole if it’s in prep for full auto since single fire and burst is getting nuked this way.
Also considering this wasnt tested at all and essentially eyeballed, causing issues with existing marine guns that needed individual adjustments, good luck fixing all CLF, survivor and UPP weaponry now.
And then, since DPS is out of whack vs current xenos, good luck eyeballing gun damage and xeno HP/armor stats as well, second of which was already confirmed to happen in the dev update.
It already is and it’s gonna be even more of a total shitshow that disregards any reasonable balance old devs tried to maintain via proper testing and talking to skilled players.
Are we forced to dig through code to find out whats being changed or is it explained better in a template somewhere?

What PR does is that it changes firedelay for many (almost every?) weapons. Firedelay is the amount of ticks during which you cannot shoot the weapon again. One tick is a decisecond (0.1 second) if I am not wrong.
So let’s look at numbers for some of the weapons:
M41A Mk1 & Mk2
2 → 2.5 (25% increase)
SMG
1.3 → 1.5 (15.38% increase)
M4RA (doesn’t have autofire)
3 → 3.7 (23.33% increase)
HPR (autofire only w/ bipod)
1.5 → 2 (33.33% increase)
M37A2 pump shotgun (no autofire)
fire delay: 20 → 19.6 (2% decrease)
pump delay: 14 → 14 (same)
MOU53 (no auto)
3 → 2.5 (16.66% decrease)
M240 Incinerator (no auto)
35 → 35 (same)
XM88 (no auto)
fire delay: 10 → 10 (same)
lever delay: 8 → 9 (12.5% increase)
MK221 tactical shotgun (no auto)
12 → 14 (16.66% increase)
This has picked off traction finally to a point where discussion is being made rather than “IT’S SO JOEVER!” Thank you for giving everyone a better example of how this has effected the weapons as well.

Full auto didn’t need to mean across the board nerfs to RoF on every weapon
I seriously do not understand what the fuck people in charge of balance are doing with this. Holy hell at this point just drop full auto entirely as a concept you are doing it completely wrong.
Full auto balance should be restrictions on movement speed and accuracy so that it is an actual tradeoff that you use situationally, not just trying to put us back in the same place we started from and making the addition of a new feature pointless while in the interim breaking everything.
Why are we testing RoF nerfs at the same time that full auto is actually removed from the weapons? That’s failing to test either of these things. I seriously have no idea what is trying to be done here, this makes absolutely zero sense.

Little bit. I’m more just disappointed that M4RA isn’t viable anymore. But I also wanted to try more discussion with it as I said but it turned to Cope and Joever thread. My main complaint is that it’s all in the name for balance for the road to full auto when we aren’t fully testing full auto anymore but for a singular weapon.
Considering the M4RA is not even going to get a auto fire setting (i imagine) i don’t see why it needed a ROF nerf
Nerfs cannot affect me anymore because I died the day they nerfed buckshot to the ground.
