The porting of PvE armor/uniform sprites to PvP

The PvE sprites are radical and closer to the feel the movie gave, I don’t have the slightest clue how to port sprites, so I’m putting this here.

I don’t think PvE’s custom armor system would get implemented into PvP, I’m only really interested in respites, no new features (The last time someone resprited MP’s they tried to make them into ship-bound riflemen)

Examples for your viewing pleasure
General uniforms (LV-624 Jungle-style):

Snow uniforms:

The various camos, FORECON on the right end:

Complete MP resprite:

Shotshell rig resprite:

You can find more stuff relating to PvE under Amory’s clothing and armor sprite projects in #contributor-projects (Or you could just boot up PvE and look around)

I love PvE armour/uniforms so much and hope this gets ported:)

Honestly? Half of the PRs on PvE should be merged.

Right off the bat, I know Blundir and others are planning to basically rip every UPP sprite including the Kitchen Sink from the PvE server.

This isn’t really a issue, since the UPP are normally a uncommon ERT spawn.

Replacing the USCM sprites with PvE sprites may be a more involved affair, as this will require a lot more stake holders being brought in and made agreeable to the changes.

(Also for some reason PvE has US Army sprites, which is interesting)

I think Amory is mostly chill with his sprites being moved into PvP, he hasn’t seemed apprehensive about it; I don’t think he wants to do it himself. A WYCI sort of thing.

(Also i think ((((((((think))))))))) the army sprites were simply for more flavors of pve ops)

Please elaborate. What is the counter argument?

I imagine the counter argument is would a change of sprite style be desired. It would be a very significant change, so you would need to be able to convince a lot more people than a sprite change to a fairly rare faction.

Do you think Territorial guard could be added as UPP Army?

I’ve not met a person that dislikes the PvE sprites, at least for the USCM. I’m not very knowledgeable on the UPP sprites, just the marine ones. I’d say it’s worth a try getting opinions on the matter. I’d rather give a bad idea that no one likes than reserve a good idea that most people would like, it’s why I posted in the first place.

My entire talking point verbatim: I think the PvE sprites kick ass, it’s worth trying to get them in PvP.

The PvE sprites have a ton of soul to then. I think there would have to be some resprite work done on some non-included existing sprites (camo/color matching, etc) to bring them up to par however.

If we do get them its a net positive overall.

PvE USCM sprites remind me of old CM marine sprites, absolute soul and kino.

I want them so badly :sob:

you have to convince the sprite maintainer and the people who’s opinions they care about (prolific spriters). The general community sentiment is always gonna be “change bad” so it is generally ignored.

anyway I heavily prefer the PVE sprites myself as well.

One thing we absolutely need is the PVE SG armour
it looks so much nicer

That is what I mean by more stake holders. It’s one thing to change sprites for a relativity minor faction, that during the course of the average game has a small chance to appear near the end if the Marines are losing. It’s another thing to be changing the sprites of one of the two major factions that appear in 100% of rounds, which may have knock on effects down the line.

The sprites are cool looking, and I think they’d be a nice addition.

Apart from the fact that we’re trying to maintain aesthetic divergence, there’s no restrictions on using stuff between the two experiences.

It’s also important to remember that squad colours and other visability aspects are vital for high pop differentiation.

Perfect, now I just need someone who’d actually be willing to port the sprites and edit the sprites for light/heavy armors.

Imagine if different squads had different uniforms (that fit the same aesthetic)
