Synths are encouraged to invent morbilion different companies from which they originate, so it is not buying them from WY exclusively.
With this quirk you won’t get the whitelist most likely.
If you want to go philosophical for a bit then no, humans don’t have “true” free will. Every single decision that every individual makes is dictated by genetics, previous life experiences, current state, mood, health and many, many more factors.
“Free will” that works in the context of a human individual is that no direct external force dictates your choice. And because humans evolved naturally, there (currently) are no ways to directly access brain data like you can directly access CPU data. With CPU, you can see each individual binary “0” and “1” that lead to some decision, the road from program to the action. You can’t do that with a brain, it works kind of the same, but you can’t see and map it so easly, thus “ethereal free will” is presumed.
Synths in CM context don’t have a free will mainly because they have programming that stops them for example, from breaking the law and such.
So there is no point in questioning if synths have free will, because they clearly don’t have even when “free will” is defined by what humans “have”.

The fact that there is a morbillion other companies in the alien universe, kind of makes no sense at all. WY is supposed to be a mega corporation. A corporation that now even spans the stars. But they can’t get a single monopoly? Like, they are the Lockheed Martin, Walmart, McDonald’s, autozone, and a million more shops all integrated into one, yet there is still competition when they even lobby the shit out the few independent countries that exist?

This post and that line specifically made me smile, you know why? Because I remember that back a couple of years I was complaining that in CM lore there were only two corporations. WY that made everything and Galaxy Pizza that made pizza.
Since then CM went overboard. I will try to find that post.

First of all I love how my funny meme post turned into a disscusion like this.
The thing about synth and free will is very good point. Man the context of CM synth is really dark. I guess its good thing robots can’t get depression. As for the UPP not considering them alive. Consdering there lore is effectivly just the soviet union wikiapedia page but in space thats not a suprise.
Oh by the way I forgot to post this one last time. The lore of CM is intresting yet rarely used.

Good take on Kaiser Wilhelm II. He had a few good points but the negative outweigh the positive. I will say his grandfather Kaiser Wilhelm I was a superior ruler. It is hard to rate his father Kaiser Frederich III as he only ruled for 88 days before succumbing to larynx cancer. A damn tragedy that drastically altered the course of Second Reich and possibly history.
