Description of the incident:
I was a lone lurker resting on weeds in the far west backline of the LV-624 beach, there were no other xenos or marines nearby. An elder predator walked by wearing red armor and a glaive. I decided to greet it by saying something along the lines of " careful, its dangerous hunting grounds today", and then followed up with something akin to “use caution strange one”. I said this IC because the marines had become more wary of my presence in the backline and had started getting far more aggressive with me so I figured I’d be nice and warn the predator.
Immediately after finishing my sentence the predator draws it’s glaive and starts hitting me while I’m resting on the weeds. I immediately start running and dash away. It follows me through 3 or so layers of resin doors and gets me about 1-2 hits away from crit before it gives up the chase. There was no provocation, no danger, no insult, and no other existing in-game reason as to why the predator would begin trying to kill me from a basic statement.
In my experience predator players are usually very good about rules of engagement so this was a bit of a surprise to me. They essentially tried to RDM me because I gave them a neutral greeting. I do not remember the EXACT wording of what I said, but I can guarantee that it in no way could’ve been construed as a threat or insult that would make me valid to try and kill.
At the end of the day its not a huge deal, but it annoyed me enough to make a report over it because I frankly just got lucky that I was not killed by a cheap shot RDM attempt from a predator for effectively saying hi. I Ahelped it in-game but it did not get a response as there were only 2 or so admins online, and I’m not sure if they are even allowed to handle whitelist stuff. In the future I would like whoever it was playing the pred to just use a bit more discernment in when to start a fight. My job as a lurker backlining is hard and dangerous enough as it is without having to deal with preds trying to murder me over saying hi.
Sadly I don’t have much info or any logs, but if it’s possible to just narrow down my own speech as a xeno you will find the corresponding incident fairly quickly I’d imagine.
Evidence:
None. The only thing I know is I believe the pred name rhymed with “knell” or “tell”, I don’t remember the exact name. It was a multi part name as well, and an elder predator wearing red armor and a glaive.
