Behavior involving Misconduct
Description of the incident:
Making this report at the request of BlackDragon.
Xenos managed to hug a predator before the collapse of the hive. Some xenos managed to secure and protect the capped predator even after a second queen rose and died. In the end, it was down to two planetside xenomorphs, PIG and a lurker named BOX (I think a hivelord that died too?). Queen Mother messages began urging the hive that somebody had to go queen. PIG ghosted, I took over their body and evolved to queen.
Unbeknownst to me at the same time, after I evolved to queen in a safe space, BlackDragon used admin intervention to convert Lurker BOX into a young queen as well. I didn’t see where it was, but I believe it was somewhere in the middle of the jungle and they died soon after.
Issues with this were:
-Admin intervention allowed two xenomorph queens to exist on the planet at the same time; not really a huge deal but pretty LRP and nonsensical.
-Converting Ancient Lurker BOX into a queen also deleted the hugged predator within their stomach and killed the only other planetside xeno, dooming the round for xenos. Granted there was little chance of a comeback, but at the very least there was a chance an abomination would have been born, the pred had been hugged for 10-15 mins already and xenos had managed to protect it the whole time despite the fall of two hives; it’s a one in a million thing that rarely happens, and an entire server was waiting in anticipation for it, only for admin intervention to ruin the flow of events in a round and prevent a unique outcome from ever playing out.
This led to a fair bit of outcry from many people, to which the admin’s response in dchat was “cope” later followed by attempted justifications at how BOX disrespected the QM. I’ve seen QM turn a disrespectful sister into a monkey or light people on fire before, and it’s pretty funny usually, but often that only happens during evac or after xenos have won. I feel like the extraneous circumstances of that round called for some more nuance, and many would have appreciated admins showing some restraint or handling it differently.
As people continued to complain in OOC after server restarted, BlackDragon appeared to have just realized turning a lurker with a cap inside it to a young queen deleted the capped pred and acted as if it was the first time hearing about it despite the entire server in uproar and coping in dchat and ooc for 12 mins straight.
Their response to the outcry after they realized the consequences of their actions was
tell you what
staff report me
go for it
It was a fairly insensitive, somewhat condescending response lacking any remorse to the server after realizing their actions, which were arguably borderline grief, ruined the expectations of a lot of people. It was probably because they thought their actions were justified nonetheless, and xenos were gonna lose anyways, and nothing would come of a staff report.
Either way, you asked us to report it, so here it is I guess. I don’t imagine much will happen, but all I can ask/hope for is that admins use this as a learning experience and stay their hand, reduce, or at least try to find more nuanced/diplomatic/OOC approaches to game intervention in the future without completely ruining the flow of the round for everybody.
Evidence:
Chat log of the round downloaded, and screenshots of OOC the round after, both available upon request. Not sure how to post them here. I believe others had video recordings of the incident as well.
