I absolutely hate the new shotgun into machinegun trend ongoing, and it is now even worse because of the new full auto patch. So now, lurkers and runners can’t ever do a risky maneuver, and come out on top, since even just pouncing a solo marine normally, he will get 5-7 shots off since he can just click on hold. So if you ever pounce someone now, and you are less then 100% HP, you will die, and he will probably get revived (Albeit a 1 for 1 is always a good deal for marines.
And this is ontop of the actual permastun marines can do with the revolver, where if they shoot you once with a heavy shot, they can effectivly permastun you for 6 seconds, where a marine next to him gets to full auto into you and murderise you in a second. This used to be a problem with the MAU, but developers actually fixed it. So why can’t this one be fixed as well? (Remember it being a thing for a long time now).
Lurkers have an inherent disability to use teamwork. When both lurkers go invisable, they are gonna lose eachother imidietly, and then use a lot of invis time to find eachother, if they wanna do that. That alongside the non-lurker castes i try to get to fight with me usually don’t know when to disengage, or die to a shotty PB.
Both weapons have always been a thing, and it was mostly people with lots of macros doing that shit, but now, whenever i encounter any marine, they do the whole slug/buckshot into machine combo. Its everywhere, and its essentially making the entire lurker caste (Unless you get a swarm of them somehow, or you’re BOO) useless. Because you either pounce them, or miss the pounce (Now you will most likely lose invisability as well now, because funny update) and you get shotgunned immidietly, and the slow makes you the easies shooting practice, esspecially now with full auto.
If you pounce them, they cannot shotgun you. You have 4 free slashes (with crippling strike), after that you should always disengage (might score extra hit with tail stab from safe distance).
You get 3 safe slashes, the 4th is always a risky one (depening if you wanna tailstab em), because they can wake up mid slash. But thats a pretty standard lurker combo, but if you actually want them dead (You need 3-4 more slashes for them to go into crit), you have to either man fight them (In which case they either shotgun you, or just full auto you), or you pray to god there are no other marines nearby that can help him while you wait for invis to come back up.
And thats only if you actually hit it, which is now easier done then ever, as even sprite clicking someone dosn’t guarantee a hit (burst still does for some reason), and if you bump into them, you get fucked beyond belief, as you don’t have any sort of escape and you are next to a dude with a 50% chance to have a shotgun, and a 90% chance to have an M41 full autoing you.
Without CS yes, with CS you always can score 4. Crippling strike resets slash delay in case you don’t know. So you should go for: Pounce → Slash → Crippling Strike to reset slash delay → Immediately Slash again → Start charging tail stab and start moving to avoid getting shot → Slash → Slash → Move one tile away → Tail stab → Disengage. In most cases this is enough to get a marine into crit (you should wait for it a bit, because pain doesn’t update instantly).
I agree bumping fucked over lurker too hard, but the rest is just not correct.
I HATE LURKERS, I HATE LURKERS, I HATE LURKERS. Everytime I exit the fob to go on a stroll, I keep hearing sounds. The sounds of a lurker pounce, the doctors prescribed me anti-shizophrenic meds, however I still hear them. I can’t sleep, I have insomnia. The feeling of getting my bones mashed from 3 hits while being unable to do a thing. Sends shivers down my spine like it was yesterday. I can’t eat without my spoon wobbling infront of my face. The Second I See That Silhouette, I no longer feel my limbs. Espeically when I see BOO, with that prime smug on his face as he pounces me down and kills me on the spot with his ultra combo wombo macro’s that he uses.
If there wasn’t full auto would you be complaining about getting buckshotted and then burst fired down? It sounds like you’re putting the blame on full auto being a thing while ignoring the fact that you got pb’ed in the first place which allowed the marine to gun you down with their mk2. Just tail stab/keep distance and re-cloak to pounce again.
The fourth isn’t really risky, it kind of depends on your ping/if you’re lagging. Nobody wakes up midslash unless you’re sitting right on top of them for the entire duration of your pounce. If you really need to play it safe get your slashes in, and move 2 tiles away for a tail stab. You shouldn’t be pouncing them when there are marines nearby to help them anyways, thats just common lurker sense.
I disagree. Lurker can 2v1, you just need to play it right and hope you don’t get hit by certain things like heavy revolver stunlock. If the only fights you could take as lurker were lone marines then it would be a bit shit for a T2. There’s not always going to be lone marines to fight anyway, sometimes marines actually stick together
For an experienced/good lurker yeah most 2v1’s are fightable, but take into consideration that most lurkers are inexperienced (such as OP, no offense) so 2v1’s aren’t really good for a lurker.
lurker sucks and can’t even finish off a marine in 1v1 without potentially dying (t2 btw, even a runner can chainstun you without having to disengage or count on you being bald)

Yeah, good points OP. I agree. First 2 are self explanatory, as for 3rd:
I don’t have much of an issue with dual primaries since it goes into skill ceiling, but its bad game design-wise since it makes secondaries pointless. There is also no ammo consideration if you run 2 guns, in fact it’s harder to have enough mags for a pistol than shells for the shotgun, it’s silly.
marines say full auto sucks ass, xenos say full auto is too good. i don’t even know what to think anymore to be honest
though i don’t think shotgun into mk2 benefits that much from full auto (sure it might be easier to track but the xeno is already not moving and you’re getting worse accuracy and dps out of it). a simple sprite click with burst fire does much more damage. the combo’s been a staple way before full auto anyways
