Thoughts on combat queen

Queen is not fun to fight

Necessary evil. Nobody will do anything about it.
The whole round flow heavily depends on Queen getting off her ass and then marching to frontlines to stop the ungaball and get a few caps.

Honestly, I think that’s for the best. The queen should be terrifying to fight. Dealing with the queen SHOULD be a big problem. And a marine push BEATING a screech with a good SADAR shot or whatever is one of the most rewarding feelings marines get in a round.

maybe it’s just personal opinion then, I enjoy fighting queen and I don’t think it’s unusual to enjoy that. The counterplay is fun.

I find it funny that the counterplay against her is just using more of what she is supposed to counter in the first place. Screech stops ungaball pushes, so you make bigger and a bit more spread out ungaballs to counter screech.

Rock beats scissors, but 10 scissors beat rock.

Im sorry to hear that.

Always sucks to see people being so used to something bad that they convinced themself its actually good.
Like the people that think runechat is bad and want everything back in the chatbox.

Yeah, this. The counter to queen is what she’s meant to counter, because her ability inherently counters everything else. If you aren’t in an unga horde, queen hard-counters you. If you’re in an unga horde, queen counters you, but you also counter her. It’s a weird system I think could really be improved.

Players just find hard-stuns to be unenjoyable when they’re on the receiving end, especially when you, as a player have absolutely no initiative to save yourself from it (see: Queen stunlock, acid runner capping + screech, scout impact stunlock).
These mechanics can actually be “fun” when you have good teammates like say, in Left4Dead2 or if you have a bunch of metabuddies with you. In CM13 though, the frontline exhibits some truly awful bystander effect aura where the majority of people stare and only do things when they see someone else do it.

The game is balanced around hardstuns. Hardstuns are an integral part of our balance, but it doesn’t have to be.

However, I don’t think it’ll be realistic to see this kind of change without morrow 2.0.
