Through the Crossfire: The Life of Roger Morley

“Welcome to Morley News at Five! We bring you the best from the frontlines across the Galaxy!” - Morley News Intro

Morley often finds himself listening to very old Rock, as it strangely fits with the war culture he is surrounded by. One of these songs is The End.

Roger Morley, the charismatic and daring British combat correspondent from the Three World Empire, has lived a life that reads like the front pages of a warzone dispatch. Known for his rugged good looks and unflappable demeanor, Morley has spent decades on the frontlines of humanity's conflicts, armed only with a notepad, a camera, and an unyielding commitment to uncovering the human stories buried in the chaos of war.

In Through the Crossfire, Morley shares the gripping tale of his career, from his first assignment in a conflict-ravaged colony to the pivotal reports that not only brought him accolades but also stirred controversy. Unafraid to delve into the moral complexities of warfare, his fearless pursuit of truth and humanity has earned him both the admiration and ire of the Three World Empire’s powerbrokers.

Despite the dangers, Morley’s work has kept him in favor with high society, leading to celebrated speeches at Geholgod Institute, Weyland University, a TED Talk on bravery and purpose that went viral, and his name whispered among candidates for knighthood by the monarchy. With wit and candor, he reflects on the conflicts that shaped his career and the thin line between hero and villain in an era of interstellar expansion.

Through the Crossfire is more than a memoir; it’s a testament to courage, compassion, and the enduring quest to remind the galaxy that even in war, humanity is worth fighting for…

‘Troubles on Linna 349’

Here is a snippet of the Times 2174 publication which included Mr. Morley's story, pictures and video from Linna 349.

“As you can see, we are riding atop a USCM Tank with the USCM 3rd Tank Battalion.” Roger shows Highway Two, scattered with destroyed and burned out vehicles, debris and even some bodies. If you look closely, you can see some movement in the bushes and greenery to the sides of the Highway, not the Morley notices at the time. “The Australian Rebels have been pushed back from this area apparently for a few days now, the Marines infantry companies have been advancing before, scouting out the area I am told! The marines have good training, comparably to our own Royal Marines, as you can see by their formation here!” Roger pans to the Tank Commander sticking out of the M22 Jacksons Commander hatch, just as he steadies his camera, a rocket hits his cupola and bisects him, blowing Morley and a few marines riding atop to the asphalt below, and injuring those inside the vehicle as it started to burn. “Hold on lad, I will get you out of there!” Morley said as he regained his senses

Morley can be seen clipping his camera to his vest as bullets and even a second rocket is seen flying by, crashing helplessly into an APC behind Roger before he works to pull out two injured crewmen from the tank. Roger yelps as he burns his hands in the process, but pulls the marines to safety and collapses due to his injuries, having unknowingly to him, been shot by an Australian Rebel, who was then obliterated by a second M22 Jackson behind Morley’s tank. Morley recalls the situation aboard the USS Kansas City’s med-bay.

“It was hell, but I couldn’t let those lads burn up! I felt I did what I needed, my burned hands be damned! They put their life on the line to protect me, it’s the least I could do. Cheers to the boys in Battalion Three who lost one tank in that battle, it could have been many more, good work lads!”

Also shown is pictures of the Australian rebels, some shot down, some captured and rounded up, some of which were young. “We should always remember that there are two sides to any conflict, and despite the rebellion, these people thought they were doing the best for their families, I ask you to donate now to the Linna 349 cause to help with humanitarian efforts.”

This broadcast apparently earned Roger many admirers across 3WE space, who sent dozens upon dozens of letters, chocolates and flowers wishing well. No doubt Roger has personally thanked some of them.
