Yautja Character Story:
A group of Marines suddenly rush up and start shooting you. How do you respond?
I have had an incident where in backlines, I have shot at a “lurker”, only to see neon and regret my life. So I would ensure I was not accidentally close to the frontline and run off if I was. If they give chase, I would make a few predator sounds, to let them know what they are getting into. Ideally all the people I am hunting decided to take part, especially if its one on one.Next, decloak off screen, roar when they enter view, and if they continue- I have willing prey, and the hunt is on!
Another Yautja hunted and killed a target you had marked. What do you do?
There are alot of reasons this might of happened. My IC response and OOC reasoning will differ.
If they killed the prey by mistake, or the prey continually chased and harrassed and their hand was forced- that is OOC not an issue, but IC I would demand either the trophy, as it is my rightful materials, or satisfaction via trial. It would not go to an honour duel.
If they directly killed my prey, on purpose to slight me- that would OOC, be amusing, and IC, be an honour duel or debt owed.
Do you have anything else you would like to include about your application?
I honestly did not see myself applying for predator, but I had some young blood rounds and realised I thoroughly enjoyed the RP aspect.
A special thank you to who made made that experience special - Mal-rah.
I have truncated some of my “junk“ marine playtime - it is my understanding this is acceptable practice, but if my .4 marine raider hours are vital to my application I can share the full list on request
You’re clearly capable of rp’ing iN pleasant non overbearing Way, and you’ve been putting on some good xeno rounds on recent times, plus cool story. +1.
As I have for every Loxzil Applicant that has requested to join, I’ll give you questions as I promised so 5 days ago
A little preface, you do not have to answer all or any of these questions if you feel as if there is no good answer that would satisfy anybody or just seem like total nonsense.. Mind you, to your dismay, I am not perfect when it comes to the Honor Code since I’m still learning new things every now and again while the code changes.
Question 1
You are roaming the colony and find a lone riflemen backlining and claiming kills on xenos. You decide to hunt them and you manage to dispatch them. While you are claiming a trophy from them, a synthetic spots you and steals the body away from you. What is your next course of action?
Question 2
You decide to host youngbloods and get a full batch of three. Two of them perform normally by abiding by the typical script of obeying you and learning from you as you teach them. The third youngblood is defiant and makes snarky remarks to both you, their mentor, and the other youngbloods continuously. For example, insulting other youngbloods by calling them ugly and dimwitted while calling your teaching redundant and useless to anyone trying to listen. What steps or course of action would you take on the youngblood if any.
Question 3
Summary
This text will be hidden
There is a new PVT with a plat riflemen and the PVT keeps calling out “IT’S A PRED” and “IT’S HUNTING US” as you are engaging the both of them. How would you react?
Question 4
You observed a fellow hunter get hugged. Thankfully they manage to escape but after interrogating them, they deny all claims of ever being infected. What would you do?
Again, by no means are you expected nor required to answer these questions. But by answering them it will no doubt help us see what sort of player you are outside of your story.
This is a mixed bag of ooc and IC thoughts. I have OOC, at that point already won the fight, and I am not one for round removing people so was likely to throw the body to medics anyway. However IC, my character values his trophies and would not be deprived of one he had rightfully earned, from extremely worthy prey at that if the rifleman has being soloing several xenos. Whiles synths are unhuntable, under the prae caveats of the code, synthetics are considered worthy prey if they interfere with a current hunt without attacking me. There is a grey area around if the hunt is considered still active when the prey is dead on the ground, but I would argue taking a trophy from the corpse is a part of hunting, and the hunt is not concluded until I have taken my rightful materials. As the synthetic is worthy, I could technically at this point engage with weapons, but a synthetic is important to marines, and I do not think my hunter would consider a piece of talking human gear- in his mind- worthy prey for a proud hunter. It would be akin to hunting a Roomba. At best fit for training. With that in mind, I would likely pull the non lethal plasma caster, and stun them, to get them to drop the body then grab it and run off. Take my trophy, then throw it back to the synth or a medic.
again, this would be a mix of “is this an OOC issue or IC“ in my mind. my first actions, would be asking one of the other young bloods if he will stand for the rebel staining his honour, letting them insult them and their superior and saying to punch them. Then a reminder on expectations to the rebel. If they continue, the next step would be a gang beating by his peers by my order, and a final warning. While I was going over the rules of the hunt, I would pick on the young blood rebel in specific, and tell them I needed to be certain they understood the rules of the hunt. If he was not even willing to entertain me telling him that much- im responsible for young bloods if he starts cloak attacking people, so I would not hesitate to kill him. (and make him aware of this LOOC, that I cannot let him go down if he is not capable of showing at least basic recognition of the rules) If he appeared to at least be taking in that much I would let him go down and keep a close eye on him. If he did start being LRP or attacking dishonourably, he would be detonated.
There is a fine line, between RPing a boastful or arrogant pred, and being LRP to their superiors. The predator society is bound by honour. I could tolerate them being brash to their pack, but being arrogant to their superiors is different. My predator is rather patient by nature, but that alone would push him.
It is a private. Im a mentor, so im naturally inclined to be gentle on them. The plat, is fair game but the private I imagine is not doing much to me, so I let him have his panic (and perhaps OOC joy- I recall I was exceptionally pleased when I first saw a pred as a new player) and focus on the plat. When he is down- I am inclined to actually let the private kill me. It will be a good memory he will cherish forever, and he does not need to know I was not trying my best. (I might if I see him in LRC let him know you are not supposed to call preds preds.) …. I just hope he thinks to get the dead plat a medic.
This is peculiar, its rather LRP in my opinion. I would publically to all other predators, voice my suspicion and ask they submit to a scan at the very least. Its rather hard to escape once you have actually been hugged so I am willing to accept I am mistaken in what I thought I saw. While the honour code states they must die by all cost, I am also aware the new predator autodocs have the larva removal surgery, and this was specifically approved by the council….So I am at a bit of a lost if removal of larva by that is considered ok. Since that is not currently in the honour code, I assume not. If they refuse the scan, or are indeed infected, I would inform them they must die and give them a chance to do it honourably. If they refuse. To arms!
A note from the author:
These questions did indeed challenge me. I realise two of my answers may of seemed a bit soft for a predator, but I always try and consider OOC before round removal. For the youngblood, it is not the first time I have seen someone get a bit over zelous in RP, or make a poor RP choice without realising. For the private, the end goal of the pred WL is to create a unique RP environment and I am naturally inclined to be gentler on new players. They do not know all the niche rules of the server yet, and mistakes can be forgiven. As the goal of a predator is ultimately RP and environmental story telling- if my death creates the better story so be it. Predator would not of been very interesting if the pred had just killed dutch in the end with a ball of death for calling him the wrong thing or completely ignored one of the contractors for looking new.
I am willing to change any of these foretold behaviours if I am told to do so.
Not in the strictest sense environmental story telling. You are there to be an antagonist and kill people. If you round remove them after a fair and good fight, well, they can sit it out, just like you sit it out if you die. Round removing people is OK: going on a killing spree and round removing 8 people on low-midpop in the middle of the round is not.
On to your application:
This is an oxymoron. If you’re going to turn around because your prey says something metagamey like ‘I’m alone’ or ‘I only have a rifle’ then this whitelist isn’t for you. We are against promoting the idea that prey is willing because then it leads to people metagaming and refusing to fight due to the possibility of predators not hunting them if they act harmless and don’t fight back.
The answer about stolen prey is acceptable.
On to your story:
There are some minor typos, syntax errors, and punctuation errors. You don’t need to have perfect grammar, but it’s noticeable in your application.
This is supposed to be a story you take your time to write and curate - what will you do when you don’t have time to correct and curate things in-round?
Your name, Heph’aiist, is unfit for a predator. The whole story about the ‘minotaur’ just makes me think you were inspired by Greek myth god Hephaestus.
The story idea itself is original, and you seem to understand how a Yautja communicates with prey. The issue is that you overdo the misspellings and distortion. Remember also not to have conversations that are too drawn out.
With that being said, thank you for applying, and please take the criticism above to do better next time and also to better understand what is expected of the role and how to play it, as you have potential. Similarly, we hope to see you more often in round because nor I nor others have seen you much if at all.
