Tobias_reaper - Yautja Application

As they have attacked me, they are fundamentally worthy prey. This means, as a proud Yautja hunter, my character would see this as good sport- and an excellent chance to partake in the noble art of the hunt, and seek to kill. They cannot simply holster their weapon and try and “decline“ the encounter. As they have attacked me, I am within my rights to attack them no matter their state. As I was previously hunting them, I presumably did not stumble across them and they are in sufficient health to be an honourable challenge.

If it was a more random encounter, they shot me, then tried to flee, I would aim to kill them as honourable prey. If i noticed they were in poor health to the point of not being a challenge (missing limbs, near crit, blacking out) I would likely RP it, call them unworthy, and allow them to retreat. My character is somewhat an underdog, being older than most hunters and cautious of his reputation- he would not risk other hunters thinking of him as targeting weaker prey on purpose, or going for “trivial prey“ sullying his honour.

If someone has engaged with me in what I consider to be exceptional RP, or shown great skill in combat, I would consider thralling them. Thralling is more than just “oh this guy is robust as hell he will be fun“

An example would be, consistently engaging and responding entirely in character to the threat of the Yautja, showing fear, but a determination to engage and put an end to the “monster“ that has been stringing people up, rifleman John marine has been cutting down skinned bodies for a “proper funeral“ and giving them to medics to transport back. This to me passes the threshold of realistic and good RP engagement of a remarkably honourable and brave prey. The Yautja show great respect to their dead, so it can be assumed a human putting themselves at great risk to show honour to their dead would be noted by a hunter. While recovering the stringed up bodies, he has shown himself to be a capable warrior defending himself from some backliners. I would wait by a body he is planning to recover, decloak and give him the offer.

”Y0U PUT Y0URS3lF AT R1SK F0R THE DEAD. WHY?”

Depending on how he responds, the offer would be extended.

”J0IN M3. TH3R3 1S MUCH TO BE DONE. MUCH TO LEARN. MUCH TO TEACH. Y0U C0ULD BE MORE.”

This would effectively be the marines offer to “join the dark side“ or, if they wish, to fight, putting an end to the story one way or another. A good fight at the end of a great RP chain.

I would also consider perhaps thralling someone who has beaten a fellow hunter in single combat honourably, and shown similar RP engagement, instead of a trophy.

Body recovery is mandatory by the HC, so “Giving up“ is not an option, and would also not be fitting for the character- Yautja value their dead immensely and would sooner die trying than leave remains to be picked apart and studied by prey. The HC states anyone actively carrying or desecrating the corpse is temp dishonourable, and “anyone actively allowing for the gear to stay shipside“ is temp dishonourable. I could therefore if I wanted to go full out attack, (I would show some restraint knowing how powerful pred tools can be, and not go for the explosive plasma caster, partly also trying to avoid collateral damage) but seeing as I have a partner, which is permitted for body and gear recovery, (assuming the initial hunter that went loud was not killed ), I would allow them to draw fire and go in through the wall with tools. My predator is older than most, and with age comes the wisdom that sometimes the best course of action, is not the loudest.
