Final Details:

Why would you like to join the CM-SS13 staff team?

I am a member of the mentor team, and have found I enjoy contributing to the community significantly, I originally put off becoming staff- Then I was kidnapped in the dead of night and made a discord conscript. I realised I actually rather enjoy helping keep the place nice for the majority of players and would like to assist more with moderation and events.

What makes you a great addition to Staff? (Experienced Tabletop DM, Aliens Lore Buff, Super Organized, etc.?)

Well, I have ran paid TTRPG games before so I am familiar with not only the “lore” aspects and gameplay of running a story, but keeping everyone happy and feeling safe. I have also ran similar events on some servers I have moderated, mostly minor world building events. I am also used to managing large amounts of people with reduced ability to directly oversee via my IRL occupation. The administrative task involved with many systems are rather second nature to me.

In your opinion, what is the most important quality of a CM-SS13 staff member?

The ability to recognise their own potential bias and stay professional.

Even if you believe you can remain impartial and fair, it is best to pass major cases you have a personal link to off to another member of staff, and the nature of the internet is that people for some unknown, illogical reason believe it is acceptable to be their worst selves publically for all the world to see. No matter what is said, you have to be able to remain professional. No snide comments, insults, or ideally sarcasm. A good ability to understand people are rarely genuinely annoyed at you personally but the fact their is moderator action being taken helps.

Anything else you want to add?

The only moderation incidents that come to mind I have experienced is when I was rather new and shot a few people with a heavy machine gun by mistake, which was dropped when it became clear I was simply incompetent, and one daft LRP incident that was not punished on a staff level, which was spur of the moment and which I now recognise my mistake.

I confess, I do look most forward to some of the RP opportunities staff provides and to get more supportive and involved with this community I have become irrationally fond of.
