the whole normal/ez injector divide just leads to injectors becoming an obsolete noobtrap and people chugging unga
currently the only injector worth taking as an average marine is the emergency one since it actually works as intended - normal ones are a noobtrap to be dumped in the trash immediately if you are not a medic
compare them to alternatives - pills take time to process… but its a timer that just goes on its own and it cant be interrupted, you pop a pill from a blister and keep going while it kicks in passively
same with medicine flasks, you just drink it and go and they are space efficient
if normal injectors are so bad, why even keep issuing them to marines without medical skill?
Edit: If anyone is interested, its @Nihisohel ‘s medical rework, and it looks fucking good already. Check the discord in contrib projects if you wanna see all the other nuts stuff he is adding.
yeah im not excited for that and i hope it doesn’t get merged
literally started as a salt PR that would make UNGA turn into “slop” that would make you bald
last time i checked it just made chems overdose you if you took them the “wrong” way which is horrendous
and it doesn’t even make the injectors much better, still inferior to pill blisters
it’s literally just a massive medical nerf with no upsides but rewritten to be more convoluted to obfuscate just how bad its going to be for marines lol
I litterary showed you an upside in the video above, where injectors can be instantly used, albeit with a lesser effect. And they can be used while moving for the normal effect.
The only times the times a chem can really be injected the “wrong way”, is either by drinking it directly or inhaled. So you could just see it as a rebalance of UNGA into injectors.
And as for all the other stuff, why not make it more complicated than “I use 11 brute kits on you. Good to go” for corpsman?
Injectors are still in use, otherwise the schmucks in req line won’t beg for the autoinjector pouch from middeck
I still see people wanting me to fill their injectors from the weymed as fob doc, and to dimiss the arguement that it’s just noobs, i vaguely remember filling bill stones injectors yesterday.
I want to see the medical rework in play before I have any opinion on it
the autoinjector pouch is used because it has so many slots it makes injectors actually kinda storage efficient
non-sequitor, “fortnite potion” is used because its good and the other options are inferior - removing the “fortnite potion” is indeed a medical nerf
It’s instant but the “delivery method” makes the chemicals worse… so you are still better off taking pills - i guess it sidegrades the injector pouch since it fits like 7 autoinjectors but if you dont have it then its still just worse than pills. So nerf to everything, maybe buff but mostly sidegrade to taking loads of injectors.
It’s still inferior to the old behaviour of injectors just working normally regardless of medical skill.
Calling it a nerf because its not like how it was 2 years ago? Thats just a trying to act in bad faith dude. Everything can now be a nerf if its not better than how it was 5 years ago.
It will be worse than it is now. Injectors will still be inferior to pills (though it will be closer) and its just flat out getting rid of unga. How is that not a nerf?
Well, curently PFC injector pouch indeed feels kind of bad in comparsion to pill pouch (excluding emergency injector). Both because of windup and storage. I usually run with MD in my armor slot and back slot occupied too, so I’m usually not in a position to holster my gun so easly, so I was using injector pouch for easy one-handed use, but then I realised you can just open pouch, then click-drag pill blister onto yourself and then take a pill directly from inside, which lets you do all of that while holding movement key without stopping, or slowing down.
What is show in video is still kind of a worse version to pills, maybe you don’t have to stand in one place to inject yourself, but you still are slowed down while applying them and the effect of those drugs is weaker than if you just stood in place and injected them carefully. All of that traded for near instant acting drugs after injection instead of internal windup of pills.
Feels like they should be sidegrades of eachother, injectors having less quantity but fast administration and action letting you pretty much “pre-med” but just as situation arises vs pills that have more quantity but you have to guess if you will need them in a while.
The “rework” will literally not affect corpsman at all aside from maybe some quirky loadouts - but you can still just fill your pressure pouch with unga
It’s just nerf to marine self-heal number 23426377234
yes it will, since chemical changes of medical rework is only part 1 of the first phase, every other system beyond that changes how a marine can sustain themselves for longer in the frontline with bone integrity and toxin rebalances, the latter ensuring that you heal from toxin naturally in exchange for kidney/liver damage and bone integrity of which you will never get bullshitted on by a random 2 tap or 1 tap
that said, only chemical changes are out right now since its the only one i somewhat salvaged after losing my progress
if its any consolation, you can take tricordazine through flasks the same way, if you guys really want to dark souls larp so much
@RainbowStalin@DukeofCagliostro i’m “lying” by only taking into account stuff that’s actually PRed and not something that only exists as posts on discord…?
@Nihisohel well, the first phase is the only thing that’s PRed and not as a draft so i have to judge it by itself considering the history of ss13 development
change that majorly affects balance being justified by future changes that may not come for a very long time or at all
is a pretty common ss13 theme lol
also the injectors still are going to just be bad and inferior to pills
im not gonna talk about the rework more until its actually on github - but my point about injectors being bad still stands
