Command Knowledge:
How familiar are you with command positions?
One of my favorite roles to play are those that involve command positions. I have quite a few hours with SL, and have been adding in as many XO hours as I can when able. I’m extremely familiar with the flow of operations, from start to finish, including leading from both shipside and groundside. Additionally, I have played other shipside roles such as MP in order to understand the process of marine laws in a much more hands on sense, such as the exact arrest and appeals process, alongside memorizing marine law. I feel I should also mention that I also play Field Commander extensively on TGMC- I have over 750+ alone on Field Commander, if that further shows my willingness and commitment to lead.
Hours in XO:
47.2 hours
Hours in SL:
102.6 hours
Character Information:
Why did your character decide to become the CO of a ship?
Cazz never could sit by and not take charge when the situation arose. Back when as a child, with his gang of misfits finding what trouble to get into. To when he was a corpsman, seeing his squad lead lock up with death bearing down upon them. The desire to have the responsibility of leading his comrades grew day by day, and as such his rank and status.
How did your character attain the position of CO?
After a streak of successful operations, ranging from peacekeeping missions to bug hunts. it was clear that Captain Khada had the strategic know how and trust of his troops to pull off overwhelming maneuvers to destroy any and all threats to the USCM. Earning the respect and eyes of many CO’s that watched him work. Maybe he was just lucky.
Provide a short story of your CO.
Command Actions:
When do you believe it’s appropriate to pardon a prisoner?
- How was their overall behavior, what they did, what they said.
- Do they understand what happened and are they legitimately remorseful.
Some people make honest mistakes, some people get heated in the moment and come to realize their mistake after. However some will try to lie and weasel their way out or are still heated from the situation. Refusing to cooperate. It is important to consider how the arrested carries themselves with the arrest before making a judgement call.
As well as the marines rank and role should not have an effect on a pardon for capital crimes. These laws exist for when someone legitimately fucks up and there should be no exceptions.
Give some examples of when you would or would not use pardon.
During the ritualistic chair stacking in hangar, a marine yoinks a chair from underneath a sitting marine. The sitting marine gets mad and stabs the chair stacker with a knife. I would not pardon him, because he instantly jumped to causing direct harm to someone else instead of trying to use their words or even shoving.
A private fumbles his inputs and arms a grenade in prep and blows himself, and a few other marines up. Obviously we all made mistakes when we were new players, and it would be better to instead direct a SEA to help the private instead of making him sit in a cell.
A CT running req solo gets convinced by the CL to “Help”, ending up with req no sending out any supply drops and blowing the budget on contraband crates. Once both arrested the CT explains he is new to the department and didn’t know better, while the CL says he was just showing the CT every part of the job and that they were going to send the crates down to aid the marines. I would pardon the CT for he obviously was manipulated and learned his lesson for trusting the CL. While I would deny the CL for the same reasoning of him taking advantage of the CT for a contraband joyride.
While the marines are having a slow retreat, the GP fires too close to the cade line and kills a few marines while also detonating an ammo supply drop. The MP’s swarm the normandy once he lands and throws him in the brig, with him saying he still was doing good by killing xenos with those same firemissions. I would ask the SO’s and SL’s how they experienced cas. With an overwhelming opinion of how he is more harm than good. Denying his appeal on the grounds of his actions while noble, caused the collapse of the frontline and costed marine lives.
When do you believe it’s appropriate to use a Battlefield Execution?
Battlefield Execution is an extremely important and powerful tool in the CO’s arsenal. Acting as an icly ban for whoever is on the receiving end.
For emergencies, such as when MP’s are absent or unable to respond to a threat in time.
For when someone is being extremely LRP and annoying, such as stripping my shoes off during briefing. Forcing his way into the briefing podium. Or screaming brainrot amongus type talk and disrupting my actions
For when someone is trying to host an uprising of some kind, be it desertion, mutiny, jailbreak. Trying to dissolve the chain of command and sow chaos.
It is powerful tool to wield and should only be used with a cool head. Not something to be used flippantly where it would only cause more headaches.
Give some examples of when you would or would not use Battlefield Execution.
If a marine slaps down a m2c behind the frontline and guns down 5+ marines, ignoring everything and everyone. I would BE them, there is no time or place to restrain and question them on the field to see if they thought it had IFF or if they are legitimately griefing the operation with mass FF. The importance lies with fixing the frontline and getting the dead fixed up before the xenos push us.
While shipside the mess tech decides to break into the morgue and make a people stew, running from the MP’s and acting like Hannibal Lector the entire time. Getting tossed into perma for his crimes. When hijack happens the CMP begs me to BE the guy so they can focus on evac. I would deny his request for multitude of reasons. One, he is already restrained and can be escorted to the lifeboats and watched over, it takes little effort. Two while the guy was “antagonistic” in a way, he did it in a way that was non disruptive to the round as a whole and only sought to bring entertainment to the people shipside (oocly). To kill him there is to basically shut down any sense of roleplay encouragement. Three, its obvious from the CMP wanting him gunned down is that he got frustrated and upset with having to chase the guy around, showing that a BE is being used as a tool to take out frustrations instead of a valid reason.
Research calls me and asks if we can make greenos. I tell them no, as we are already winning the operation and don’t need further headaches, focus on stims. Soon after the hive is about cleaned up. I ask the MP’s to check on research to make sure nothing is going on, which of course they went against my orders and grew a greeno queen. The researcher basically risked the entire lives of the ship. While it would be valid to BE them in this case, I have MP’s on the scene. This would be a sensible choice to have them arrest the research team to question everyone involved. As well as organize exterminating the queen.
