I’ve always wondered that, why does Research have medbay armory access and privileges’ and doctors don’t? but it’s even funnier now that research is under the W-Y aka they are technically civilians not USCM personnel but still got access to the armory and doctors still dont. Is that just mechanics from research being part of USCM left in, a backstory behind it or just a mistake?

It’s likely just an oversight more than anything. Arguably, researchers have more of a need for the armory if there’s an incident with greenos? But the same could be said for doctors and shipside bursts, so the point is a little moot.
In same vein, the Corporate Liaison of all people has full medbay access, complete with the proper Weymed vendors, while the DCC and Pilots (and Squad Leads when I think of it) don’t, despite being issued medical gear.

I find it strange that ASO doesn’t get morgue access but the MPs do.
There’s been times where I’ve had nothing better to do but drag bodies into morgue for intel, both as CMP and ASO. I mean I get it, MPs might need to get into the morgue to investigate a body that was left there or to supervise an autopsy, but the ASO?
ASO is weird access wise, treated like a super jack of all trades like a sweaty powergamer, to fill in for each of the depts. but doesn’t have morgue access, cant use the vec pad (which would be very useful to save time moving the ARC and for moving disabled killer vans into storage). I’m pretty sure both of these have had multiple failed PRs and some forum posts I can’t be bothered to find though.

Researcher’s having access to the armory is something very old, back when both research and medical were civilians before the rank rework, researchers had it even then.

Yeah the CC and CL having I believe it’s called ACCESS_MARINE_COMMAND in code which lets them into CIC and who knows what else it lets them do (I’m too lazy to look it up right now) - is strange to me. It even let them launch lifeboats before the PR that lets you do a 10 second delay launch changed it.
I guess they’re worried that without that automatic access people won’t find the roles fun or something, but I still think it’s strange.

CL having access to CIC feels more like a sign of goodwill between high command and WY. But the CC having literal unrestricted access (I think they still have access to some parts of brig) is kinda nuts.

Be a little hard gameplay wise to do much if you cant open any of the doors.
I feel like for gameplay purposes we can handway it. After all changeing it would jsut restrict the RP i could do i now can’t enter the places where the fun stuff happens.
Before anyone says the CC should be on the ground. No you’r wrong shipside CC RP is perfectly valid.

To be fair, since researchers are now basicly WY employees directly, since they all became professors, the access for the armory should go over to medical staff.
