They are both massive and strong aliens, they both use cloaks, are honor bound by code and prefer melee combat in the form of duels. I know halo was a more recent thing so could it be that the devs drew inspiration by the predator concept?

more likely that halo elites were inspired partially by preds, as the first movie with them came out in 80’s

The marines in Halo are inspired by the marines in Aliens.
The elites are 100% inspired by the Predator, a lot of the concept artists in interviews said so :3
