1-prevent queen from calling DS down to hikack until marines are wiped from the ground.
2-remove weed protection maybe.
PO transport could bring reinforcement via paradrop too if they want.
people can evacuate using medevac.
LZs are designed to be hold, you don’t have to defend 360 degree circle around. Hard to find viable spot that isn’t under a roof. And that spot would have to give some adventage in exchange for having to rely on rappels and medevac solely.
This sounds based, but you’d need better ways to ferry marines to/from a custom zone. It would be harder, yes, but to be viable you’d need to make it fun or easy. Preferrably fun. Maybe the same way TGMC does it, give the marines a smaller dropship that can land in more spots? Coding landing zones that the players can do like with the tadpole sounds like it would be a nightmare.
Now, I can appreciate the idea of making a FOB not have to be put inside the landing zone, it reminds me of the Nostromo where you’d have Marines setup a fob inside the centre of the map or elsewhere.
But for all the dev time that’d be needed to make the idea work, I don’t know if it will ever be viable with our current gameplay mechanics.
Alamo doing fly-by, all doors open and marines jumping out paratroopers style (with 5% you get sucked into engine or flap face first into ground).
