Good day marines (and the ever-spying xenocord) I have a question regarding the Combat Correspondants fax machine.
Well, what do you generally use the fax for? I understand that the CC can publish reports to the general public with it, I suppose. But I figured that’s done so much that it doesn’t exactly warrant many responses anymore. (at least that’s why I think why)
So CC mains what exactly do you fax to who and what? Do you usually ever find responses if you do as a CC?
(Feel free to also talk about your unique CC experiences when it comes to faxing)
I wasn’t the CC, but one CMO round, I believe I tried to work together with the CC to go muckraking on the MP department and get them to release a prisoner who was being permabrigged for insanity. We nearly published a news report decrying their detainment, and I even sent a fax to the Interstellar Human Rights Organization (or whatever it is called) before hijack happened.
I suppose it wouldn’t be too hard to try and fit this sort of muckraking journalism into your RP for quite a few rounds, and then use the fax machine to try and appeal to the relevant authority and get the accused in trouble.
What I do is play Military CC so I can be the USCM liaison and report stuff to HC, its pretty awesome. I dont get responses often but when i do, its nice. Sometimes i get requests to take pictures of specific things or to get something just like a CL but you know, military
I write ‘news articles’, I send them. obv. you can’t see the pictures I included in the paperwork sim. it used to be mil CC was the more ‘fax & paperwork’ focused one with pictures and civ was more broadcast camera focused, but both get the live cam now so its more flavor.
writing the papers gives context to taking the photos, which in turn subtly pushes you towards RPing better, focusing on photography, asking people about different events, etc. it helps get me in character, and I like to think the ghosts enjoy reading it when I fax it to press.
