What do we think about welding ERT shuttles

Last round, there was a W-Y chemical recovery ERT, and, after being gunned down classic, the goons and some other ghosted marines began saying thats its meta-y to do that. Is it? What do we think about MTs or other engineers B-lining shuttle docks when an ERT they don’t like arrives and they weld it the moment they unboard? is it meta-y or LRP?

Hi, person who welded the shuttle.

Disingenuous in this situation, think closer to ‘After the lab went into lockdown, the researcher got shot and perma’d, and the researchers body had their id looted and their vials taken, and they weren’t being responsive to the XO who was making demands to stand down’ and you’ll be closer to the truth. MPs were in with it on their comms. I’m against people doing it truely immediately after they land with 0 reason to. But there was a precedent in this round.

Anyway this falls into metagaming so, I dont know what policy there is to discuss.

I honestly feel like it’s technically unfair to weld ERT shuttles with ERTs who have no way to unweld them, that essentially makes them unable to leave no matter what. (Which shouldn’t be so.)

Not more a rule issue, but a mechanical one.

ert shuttle doors shouldn’t even be weldable period imo

only reason to is for trapping people out/metagaming (cringe)

or sitting and delaying (cringe too)

That’s what I said but in more harsh wording.

Can’t you just shoot them? And if not doors, then walls next to it?

The shuttles door and walls are invoulnerable, but the doors on the ships are weldable. Unless you unweld it, there is no going through.

Oh, I thought it meant doors and walls that are part of the Almayer, not ERT shuttle.

So the scenario is ERT comes and then abandons ship, somebody comes to that shuttle and welds the doors. Like shuttle on aft side is just next to engineering, make a small detour to get a welder. Other than that maintenance is filled with barrels and crates which are likely to spawn engi belts if you open them.

If people started constructing reinforced walls blocking doors, that could sure be taken as kind of a dick move, but welders are plentiful onboard.

The doors are deconstructable as well. Pretty sure that prevents it flying permanently as they can’t be rebuilt.

the ERT insertion just sucks right now - you spawn in and immediately are in a choke or a series of chokes

Ngl the ERT ship doors shouldnt be weldable, but the doors to the docks are fair game.

Having so few shuttle bays introduced issues. We should have more, or consider having certain ERTs using breaching pods to board the ship.

(I’ve killed a full hostile UPP ert as they docked and shot a marine nearby, it’s legitimately a D-day simulator if you’re positioned correctly and so easily abused)

Back in the good old days i would weld brig doors shut. It is a skill issue, anyone can weld

we literally have the framework for droppods already

they’re just never used outside of random admeme shit

that’s just an oversight, someone need to code out the ability to wield/electrify shuttle doors

This should be a fairly straightforward change. The addition of the maintenance deck can allow us to easily slot in many more ERT bays, plus there are the rarely used engineering docking ports. Its more of a balance issue at this point.
