What happens when we get +300 players with Steam release

Will mentors be paid for our hard, tireless work training countless noobs (new players)? Will the servers have a pop cap? Will every round have the tank? Food for thought.

Ten bucks says that someone is going to give the new players OT nades for fun.

The amount of times I’ve seen req trying to convince new pvts to take a grenade….

I think it’ll be a bit chaotic for a while with a lot of new players, but that’s what us mentors are here for, right?

On the note of population caps, I wonder if BYOND even has the infrastructure to support some sort of queue system.. If so, I can’t wait to wait in queue for half an hour :D.

Every mentor was given 1 year beyond membership at one point, btw

Server crash, we’ll be free

We won’t get +300 players because people are memeing on the steam discussion boards :face_with_tongue: . The two most popular topics currently are “This game sucks ass” and “THWOMPER RUINED THE GAME”

Ppl only look at reviews not steam forums

I absolutely look at the steam boards to see what the discussions are like before I decide to try a game or not. They’re kind of better than reviews in some instances - in terms of issues the game has, because the reviewer can’t stop people from replying. Also it’s great as an indicator of general activity surrounding the game. New people likely won’t understand that we’re already well established on discord, forums, in-game, github, etc. for ~10 years or whatever, and that people are treating the steam boards as ‘acid goop but worse’

we didnt have queue with seth tide happened

i do think we wont have 1FPS this time

I’m not seeing it :frowning: i feel left out

Forums aside I think there will be a cascading effect where people will see the friend is playing notification and check it out. Plus it will begin to fill suggested playlists for people. Especially the F2P crowd. This could be huge..

I would honestly apply to help out if it didn’t require a whole complicated app for it (I never looked at the app but I was a goonstation mentor for years.) We might also need a xeno based mentor strain for the new incoming wave

its called an imaginary friend, don’t think we need a whole new strain/caste just to teach new xenos, there are tutorials and other xenos who can help

XEA is real…

Imaginary Friend works fine for it, really.

You’re more than welcome to try and apply; the application process obviously differs from GoonStations, but if you believe that you would be a good fit and meet the basic requirements (Good conduct, game knowledge in most roles, xenomorph game knowledge.), it is easy enough to apply.

Because we’re the :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: coolest :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:! Mentors :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: cool :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: , moderators.. uh.. uhm.. uhm…

Chaos will rule.

You’re not looking at the correct place, you’re looking at the CMSS13 PLAYTEST forum, as opposed to the CMSS13 GENERAL forum.

apparently the playtest has a seperate store page (and discussion boards) - it’s on the main one at CM-SS13 General Discussions :: Steam Community

there’s like two dudes who are unironically toxic about it with like 10 joke posts between. Seems normal to me

I don’t think the steam release is gonna blow out the pop instantly. If anything, the Server Maintenance yesterday (and hopefully the results) should be a net positive to Pop.

It’s more important that we do this to ensure CM lasts another ten years.
Wait, we’re in Acid Goop.
