What marine role has the stupidest playerbase?

shipside medical is a mixed bag, either they fluoride stare at the chem machine for 5 minutes inbetween pill bottles (A for effort though), or the chem machine has like 5 pill bottles of every chem including shit like atd and the doctors are doing surgery speedruns on dummies

I’d argue comtechs because they rarely use the tools that are given to them to the full extent. While recently I began seeing some impressive comtech performance, some days ago the CTs job was just poorly placing cades and running at mach 4 at the position of perma’d comtechs to permanently borrow their sentries.

Relatively, the roles that affect the most are going to affect the most.
Seems stupid to say, but the people who are going to affect a round the most Medics IO’s CT’s XO’s
are going to be noticed the most!

From general experience and such, I believe the stupidity by sheer volume is SL and SO.
a good SO can change a round, like a flick of a switch CIC is 10 times more informed and are more free to think of the greater details rather than tunnel vision on issues. A bad SO… well does nothing and by proxy, affects nothing so isn’t noticed. How many no name SO mains are there because they didn’t learn how to grab attention or convey info in a engaging manner? not even speaking about the ones who just do… nothing… a competent SO is also rarely noticed, but they are still felt.

now this may piss some people off, but SL is also a contender for this. for the same reasons as listed by SO, their stupidity is more felt however. But a bad SL who sticks to orders is still a good SL, but by sheer mechanical skill SL’s are lacking half the time or, don’t know how to be engage effectively with their squad.

This is probably the only entry to this thread I would actively disagree with. Yes, you get the occasional absolute buffoon playing CT. But I’d say by and large, most CTs are at least semi-competent. Yes there are stupid CTs, but there is usually enough CTs that know vaguely what they’re meant to be doing that you don’t really feel it.

Fair. In retrospect I was exagerating hard lol. Altough just for the record, my critique is that CTs could turn the whole colony into a nightmarish place in which the backliners have it damn near impossible to do something by welding every single vent to harm their mobility and they could fix APCs and tap into the fact that they can illuminate the colony (and make lurkers, runners and facehuggers easier to spot) and they could rush into colony medbays and fix the machinery as soon as possible to secure more supplies. Despite all of those posibilities, they limit themselves hard. That is what I meant when I said that they rarely use the tools that they are given.

Combat Techs have a MASSIVE monkey see monkey do problem imo.

The vast majority of CT’s only seem to copy-paste cade styles they’ve seen before. They don’t have any clue why a cade gets built a certain way, nor why they are now building it that way, and as a result they cannot adapt for different circumstances and they then build things incredibly dumb.

any MT who isn’t troll-rolling is nothing but an asset for stripping the some 600 metal out of maints, dragging crates, basic intel sorting, reloading CAS, and reloading OB’s so CIC can keep getting fat buckled to their chairs.

Dcc’s CAN be very helpful for the role they serve (reloading, grabbing medevacs, etc etc) the issue is that stuff sucks… especially your whole round as DCC is doing the boring work. DCC exists exclusively as a gatework for sometime to bang their head against the wall with for 10 hours until they can go PO and have fun.

I have seen some real shitter MPs that just wanna be big guys that get to boss you around because they can. I have seen MPs do fucked up shit. I remember hearing an MP saying over the radio that we should arrest someone without providing any reason for it. But I think that we should cut some slack on the MPs. A good part of MP hate is because those insecure shitters have give people every excuse to hate them. The entire role of the MP is to uphold rules and laws they did not make, but sometimes involves stopping players from doing whatever the fuck they want even if it is fun (BM, making greenos, bars etc). And when confronted they are hated because “MPs bad” and “MPs shitters”. Not all are like that. And I have seen times as an MP, people that just get so worked up over been told to stop whatever illegal thing they were doing or that they are responsible for something. Sometimes its cause they don’t know ML, sometimes cause they did nothing wrong and sometimes because the MP even bothered to intervene. Either way like MPs got a role to play that is taken seriously by staff. So chill a lil. It’s not like you won’t be there next round, to do whatever you wanted to do now.
