I like polls. I’m curious.
I don’t have anything to put here.
I’m not including heavy armour as its a HVH thing.

scout and sadar for sure dude
I barely play SHARP because almost no maps let him do his thing.
But when I do I get an uncomparable high when I find a big, mean and scary prime lurker and I literally make it kill himself by pretending to be a clueless and terrified new spec.
It never gets old how this spec kit turns the strengths of the greatest backliners into my greatest plot, my M7 Teemo main heart gets a flashback similar to the Ratatouille’s critic every time.
God bless the SHARP kit
Where is “I have never voluntarily played a specialist”?
Playing Scout (my beloved) always felt like a prerequisite to survival was thinking more than 1 step ahead. Asking yourself a lot of questions that you needed to answer for yourself. It most rewards those with game awareness and a shrewd disposition.
Is this xeno isolated enough to make a dive on it?
How likely is it to escape if I do commit to an attempt?
Is there a xeno strike team waiting for me to make a move somewhere, and how long do I have until they arrive?
Have I displaced far enough away that this strike team cannot reasonably intervene on my target’s behalf?
Is this bait? Plenty of xenos (especially burrowers) will want me to chase them so I am more likely to run over traps for an easy cap/kill.
Scout being the marine equivalent of a Lurker is very exciting, especially when you start setting up ambushes and exploiting observed xeno behavior. Runners and lurkers love to use the same in-and-out skirmish route because they know (think) it is safe for them. Then you just set up behind them and jump them as they initiate their attack. Yes, I will bait you out if I think it will let me kill a backlining lurker and I will not feel bad when it breaks your left leg and foot.
It makes me sad (unreasonably and irrationally angry GRRR) that Scout lost burst fire. Scout isn’t as scary to xenos and I think their insistence at holding their bodies in the backlines is the result of generational trauma that burst fire (deservedly, because runners and lurkers deserve nothing good in life) inflicted upon them pre-nerf.
This isn’t to say that other specs don’t have some thought present to their gameplay, it just isn’t as interesting to me as what I’ve experienced playing Scout. I like being the guy that mugs people in dark alleyways for their xilk money.
Scout because I’m a rat-ass Lurker player and I like no-you’ing my fellow rat-ass players.
SADAR and Sniper take a tied second - SADAR cause its a protagonist and Sniper because flak spam raises the blood pressure of every T3/Queen player.
Grenadier specialist.
Whenever I roll specialist. I go on a stunning spree. Xenos stunlocked me so much before. Now I have the confidence and tools to feed them the medicine they have been selling me. I remember stunlocking a woyer once it whiffed and tried to run away in a open area.
Even if I didnt roll for specialist to get the privilege of getting the HEDP box, the good ‘ol M851A Nade launcher can stun lock them with a bit more steps.
HEDP specialist for the win.
Scout in terms of the fun. Because of the adrenaline rush and the reasons Stereo described above.
You have plenty of worries, plenty of abilities. You can sneak a engineer to Sensors, you can hivedive, you can kill king. You are basically jack of all trades with a cloak and a dream. People pulled off crazy shit before and nowadays playing scout, although the removal of burst fire is a tragedy indeed.
I’d say the only other spec who can contest is Grenadier because if you CAN use it well, you’ll be having a lot of fun with your explosions. SADAR on the other hand feels like too sweaty and fragger-ish, you get targetted by everyone alive EXTREMELY hard.
I’m noticing a pattern of “I hate when xenos do X to me, so when I get to do Y similar thing back to them, it makes me feel good”
I notice my first pick of scatman is missing in the above thread https://youtu.be/7neipvZ_H0c
Such feeling is very much unavoidable for player’s feelings. Hurt by something from an enemy? How about you hurt the enemy back?
But I’m not saying everyone is like this. This pattern is relatively common on multiplayer games.
Demo/Pyro
They’re (I think) the highest risk specialist roles with the highest reward. I also think they are fair specialists, in the sense they are not balanced around being “one per team” or “cope”. Looking at scout and sniper here, no hate just saying.
I yearn for some high octane gameplay on CM, I play survivor while killing to live, I play backline solo marine. The other specialist castes feel like a total let down for me, they’re either too easy or have too little risk for me. Additionally, I feel I can have the most game impact as these specialists. As I am already proficent with the flamethrower, pyro spec comes to feel natural, and as a SADAR I put myself into ridiculously dangerous positions on the frontline to try and secure kills.
Am gonna get a lot of hate for this but the few times I played scout it felt like I was just bullying new players or that I was invincible. I also tend to kind of play like a scout as a regular marine anyways so its nothing special to me.
Same here.
Pyro. Its not particularly powerful. I simply enjoy it.
Regular Sniper Bros, step up
I enjoy Pyro/GL due to sheer FF capacity without getting bwoink/shot at.
Grenadier is best spec.
CM players’ primary source of joy is fucking over others
SIR YES SIR OORAH
im so sad I’ve missed rolling foxtrot spec every time I tried (four whole times fr fr) in the past month
I also refuse to play roundstart because I will literally only play 1 kit and its now administratively established it’s Rule 8 breaking to cryo if you don’t get your One Kit
Sniper truly is the only good thing for me; I like hotswapping ammo, I don’t like the loudness of demo, I like the element of surprise but I’d be bald af as scout (and scare too easily for that), and do value teamwork enough that demo/scout solo protagging isn’t my thing. Not that good ones play it that way anyways
I respect Pyro and GL mains independent of all this; i find the roles incredibly boring and don’t like playing them, but the ones who are good win games not just from the moment of hitting a queen but all round long
