Why do people not like hijack?

Completely ineffective because ERTs are population hardcapped. Demand >>>>>>>>>> Supply.

idk hijack is something that could be fun, but usually is just a stomp, as the aliens tear through the ship. I feel it could be better if the lifeboats had a timer for fueling that doesn’t change when the pumps obviously get trashed. (in universe it makes no sense that the lifeboats ain’t fueled) having people escape should be part of the fun, instead the pumps are demolished and the crew all dies in agony

They play 300 rounds and get overstimulated

I would remove hijack not mainly because of the hijack per se but because of how the prospect of it pollutes the USCM’s mind. Instead of trying to defend to the last breath the FOB (the most epic moments for the marines happen in that circumstance), way more often than not whoever is in command just tries to game it and metaevac with 110 marines alive just to try to wipe xenos on the ship and type “MARINE MAJORRRRRR” in OOC.
I would also add that it just makes the round 20 minutes longer when the winner has been already been decided technically and so we get fewer spec rolls, just skip it, the marines will fight better and we have more rounds instead of 20 minutes of 80 ghosts following 7 alive marines.

i dont see meta evacs as often as i used to, i think people are much better about it now (plus the FOB usually does just get fucked up lol)

I will agree that this now happens a little less, I am not sure if the king has something to do with it. Still the spec rolls point holds.

I’ve grown sour with hijack for a few reasons:

  • As mentioned, it’s fairly same-same and doesn’t feel organic.
  • It unduly pushes the goal post for the xenos to an artificial win condition.
  • It promotes unhealthy gameplay where players (specifically marines) orient their win-con towards hijack, rather than victory on the planet.
  • Cade hugging is the worst part of CM gameplay, and that tends to be what defines hijack.

This topic is as old as hijack itself. It gets a topic made about it every time. Noone wants to remove it and noone wants it. It’s in a limbo.
We just got to accept that hijack is shit and it won’t go unless we get a new host and new management

I feel that whenever I start talking about hijack, it turns into me ranting for ages on the same topic.

But, as I’ve written before, Hijack encourages the worst aspects of CM gameplay, an extended static FOB defence, which almost always is occurring after the server has just gone through an extended FOB siege to force the Marines off planet.

The reward for Xenos winning the planet, is a mandatory FOB siege. The reward for Marines winning the planet, is they have defeated the Xenomorphs and have ended the game.

Hijack would be more engaging if it was rare or uncommon.

i think hijack should be time locked
if marines geg folded in 40-60 minutes it should just skip it entirely as its usualy a marine wipe and they spend more time running around the ship trying to find survivors then on the planet

and it should not be able to happen after the 100 minute mark, its basicly a full round played and hijack does nothing but waste both sides time, worst part about these is that xenos usualy won by anfraction groundside and they are to commit a very very long suicide

hijack should only be used if a round was too short/not enough action, in that short round window marines werent wiped (hppefully) and xenos didnt get to have enough fun of a normal round

also if there is more xenos then a 2:1 ratio of marines:xenos then ARES should just toggle evac and not even statt refueling lifeboats and tell everyone that „chances of survival are near 0, reccomended immidiate evacuation from the ship via lifepods” and lock down certain sections of rhe ship so they cant hide, like maints, some fuck off corners in hangar or engi etc.

Excellent points.

It reminds me of trench warfare circa WW1.
