Seriously, what is it with these clowns? You get handed the clipboard and suddenly you’re giving fleet-wide strategy orders, overriding CIC, barking at marines, and acting like you’re running the whole op. You’re the executive officer, not the High Lord of This Vessel And All Who Sail Her. Your job is to make the CO’s life easier, not cosplay as General MacArthur..
Half of them can’t even read the tacmap properly, but the moment the CO steps AFK it turns into a power trip speedrun. Just had one XO tell the CO to “stand down” because he didn’t like the evac call.
I kinda wish there was a better way to get better at XO besides “pray marines give a shit about your orders and xenos aren’t cracked smoking Ritalin wiping the front”
You play XO to be sweaty CIC sitter and lead a victory, or to do a meme like the UPP have hit Washington.
You play CO to roleplay a officer or to be a sweaty field commander.
It is the most optimal way to play right now because of both the CO and XO are in the same room, one or the other just becomes SO + since two commanders giving conflicting orders causes chaos and usually a loss.
Thats why you see a lot of XO’s act like they are the boss in CIC because thats usually the actual case since the CO is off handling appeals / roleplaying or they field deployed to lead the marines on planet as a SL ++.
everytime i see an XO wearing the formal uniform I get flashbacks to bob cross rounds when there was like 3 mutinies in a row and none of them were approved.
