The CMP arrested both of my MTs under false pretenses that they had not recieved my permission to modify a part of the ship. After they told them that I had, he continued to arrest them and made no attempt to ask me whether this was the case. After I told him I had, having stumbled across him randomly arresting my MTs, he still continued to arrest them. This is a false arrest, whether or not I violated SOP for not telling him, the MTs should be innocent either way. Neither MT was released from their charges following this.
The CMP maliciously complied to marine law by arresting me for violating SOP, in which it states that I must inform the ‘Security department’ of any modifications made to the ship. While this is true, this section is (somewhat) subservient to the part where it mentions ‘should it affect any department’, which it wasn’t, as it was constructed in an unused part of the ship. Furthermore, the CMP has full access to Engineering comms, hence was reasonably informed, and further went on to refuse any information as such in order to arrest me. This constitutes malicious compliance to make an utterly unnecessary arrest to grief 3 separate people’s rounds. As an aside, this should be made more clear to CE players.
The SOP states The ship may only be modified with approval from the **Commander**. The Chief Engineer can also approve changes to the ship, but should it affect a department it requires the Head of Department to approve of it as well. The Military Police must be notified of changes being made **prior** to them taking effect.
I have been contacted by WestRover(Server Moderator) in the same round regarding the arrests I have conducted and he said the exact same thing you said. ‘it didn’t affect any department thus they don’t have to inform you’. I made the same defence to him as well. The section where the MP has been mentioned applies to both Commander and CE approved modifications. After my defence that adminhelp ended with no issues. Also in the same round Tommy/Tammy (I’m sorry I can’t remember the full name) filed an appeal for his only charge (Major DTGP) and requested XO as his handler. XO designated ASO in his place. ASO looked pretty mad over the fact that I arrested the MTs even though they had authorization for it. But when I also mentioned the same SOP part that states MP must be informed about the changes. He quickly realised the situation and eventually rejected his appeal.
And no I did not arrest you for violating the SOP, I did arrest you for major interference, assault and resisting arrest and I stated that multiple times. When I arrived at the scene to arrest the second MT, you stood directly in the door frame refusing to move away and demanded answers. I repeteadly warned you. I am repeating this.. I repeteadly warned you (I even said please, if it makes you feel any good) and told you to step away from the doorframe or you will get charged with major interference which you did not comply and I had to flash/baton my way in. And you resisted your own arrest as well when I said you were under arrest for major interference by punching me.
Military Police needs to know about every change, no matter who approved it. That way, they can keep track of everything and make sure nothing goes wrong. Simple as that.
(I apologize if I made any grammar or spelling mistakes, English is not my main language. Feel free to point out to my mistakes and ask questions regarding the incident.)
The only thing I have to add is to reiterate that the MTs are not required to comply to SOP in informing the security department, and that it is the CE’s responsibility. I stood in the way of your arrest of the MT for this reason. Additionally, the adminhelp was not resolved without issue, Westrover advised me to file this player report.
Westrover did not let me know about this. I made my defence and that was the end of that ticket. Clearly a misunderstandment. No problem on that part. I am glad you made this report so we could talk this thorough.
But I disagree on that ‘CE’s responsibility’ part. It is the responsibility of the one/s who are making the modifications.
I couldn’t find anything in the SOP stating that this was the responsibility of the chief engineer. There is a statement that “The Chief Engineer is in charge of modifications made to the ship,” implying that changes to the ship’s structure are under his management, but the responsibility for providing information does not lie directly with the chief engineer.
