Witherael - Staff Report: Enforcement Action Taken - Westrover

What’s your BYOND key:

Witherael

Round ID:

29042

Your character name:

Johnny Witherspoon

Their BYOND key:

Westrover

What are you reporting?:

Enforcement Action Taken

Description of the incident:

I asked the captain at roundstart if I should do four gau or seven sentries, and I was told that it was up to me
I was coordinating with the DCC, so medevac and fultons were on the alamo
the major came up to the normandy and was telling me to quit, something to the extent of “who gave you approval to do this”, to which me and someone nearby both corroborated to have been the captain, and the major told me something to the extent of “carry on, then”
after the missions starts, I fly down to the second landing zone, and start clearing some weeds, and reported it, when the major was telling me to undo it, so I asked if the captain revoked his permission, and it had turned out that there was miscommunication, so after discussing it for about 30 seconds, I started flying back up and loading up four gau instead, and proceeded to roleplay as a disgruntled and vaguely sentry obsessed lunatic for the rest of the round, while delivering gau fire missions when I could get a target

I don’t believe this constitutes me not using my slot, as I wished to use an unorthodox strategy that required the normandy to pull off, and I never acted in a way that even got me in trouble with in-character consequence, so I don’t understand how it can be said that I broke the rules, even if I can understand that the strategy might be bad in hindsight, though like I said, I hardly had the opportunity to try it out

Evidence:

Note - Rule 8 - Use your slot: As GP, disobyed XO’s orders and attempted to do a split drop, landing on the wrong LZ, and equipped the Normandy with only sentries. by westrover (Moderator) on 2025-07-24 19:15:24 (ID: 29042)

I’m otherwise unsure of how to provide the chatlogs, or any other relevant logs to corroborate my story

Hey there, @Witherael.

A Gunship or Dropship Pilot is not required to follow Command’s orders per server rules, and there’s no issue with that. However, just because you aren’t obligated to follow orders doesn’t mean you can ignore them entirely and do a split drops purely because you feel like it. This has a huge impact on the round and is not something we would like to see. If every pilot made their own plans each round, the result would be nothing but chaos and it would remove the entire purpose of Command.

And no, “my character is a lunatic” is not a thing on our server. This falls under Rule 2 - Sanity, your character is fully competent and sane officer. For this reason, I’ll be editing the applied note and adding a Rule 2 reference.
