Enforcement Action Taken

Description of the incident:

MrSmiley asked me about what I did

I was a combat technician returning to the Almayer via Alamo. I spotted a dead CLF synthetic and decided based off my character’s knowledge of synthetics, and that a HOSTILE one was able to attack humans, that it needed to be destroyed as it was a threat to the ship if it were to go to the almayer. I used c4 on it and destroyed its limbs with the intent to destroy the body. I failed in destroying it and instead blew its limbs apart, so I took it to CIC where the CMP took over with intent of reviving it if ordered to.

He then noted me saying that it violated the sanity rules. "

"Sanity
All personnel employed by the USCM are mentally stable and physically fit for duty. They would not desert their post or go against the USCM without a good reason.
For example, the Mess Technician would not start dicing up bodies in the gibber.
Marriages are forbidden, no two people employed by the USCM on the same ship may be married.
The USCM has knowledge of most threats, including all human forces (UPP, CLF, PMC, etc) and general knowledge of the Xenomorph hive structure.
The USCM does not know there is a Xenomorph threat on the planet of operation unless that information is given in a custom event.

Well, I have knowledge of most threats including CLF. I have an understanding that this specific SYNTHETIC attacked us. It is dead and knowing that it’s a hostile synthetic (which are illegal?) and not knowing any other capabilties of it decided to try and destroy it.

I don’t think I broke the rules. You aren’t able to destroy human bodies normally it literally prevents you. You can c4 synthetics.

Admin PM from-Detective Google: it appears you C4’d the body and blew all it’s limbs off.

PM to-Admins: My character doesn’t like synthetics. The synthetic was CLF, enemy of the state. I disabled it with a c4 after i found its body on the alamo before taking it to CIC where i offered to revive it if needed. i honestly thought the c4 would’ve destroyed it.

Admin PM from-Detective Google: I believe they disconnected in this case, but for future reference C4ing human corpses is pretty much always a no-no; it’s considered a breach of the sanity rules and the rule 4 prohibition on making enemies unrevivable. Avoid it in the future.

PM to-Admins: You can’t c4 humans. the game prevents it. It doesn’t prevent it for cyborgs why is it such a big deal?

Admin PM from-Detective Google: I’m not going to hold up the entire server further arguing the semantics with you, you should make a staff report if you believe this was filed in error.

Hey there, @Wp-Ninja.

Rule 4 states,

  • Permanently removing a player from the round by using brute force, or preventing them from being treated, is considered as griefing, even if they belong to a hostile faction.

These rules are meant to protect players, not just humans. So doing this to a Synthetic doesn’t make your actions any more valid. We enforce this rule to keep players as involved in the round as possible, and only very specific reasons allow for permanently removing someone from a round. You can learn the details by reading the rules.

And no, we don’t do “my character is X” here to ignore the rules.
