The main goal of a hive is to expand and preserve itself. That happens when on the colony. However I noticed that during Hijack xenos prefer to go for kills rather than capping even unarmed crew. In instances where the crew is of no threat shouldn’t the immediate response be capping?
What game are you playing that xenos don’t always focus on kills. I ain’t ever seen a prime warrior get a cap and I never will.
in similar fashion, why do marines OB after evaccing?
if they dont plan on coming back, and the mission is FUBAR, wouldnt using any support be a complete waste of munitions?
I think evacing doest mean the marines are just gonna run away. They might redoploy once they get more support or something so they ob the fob to take out any xeno they can for when they return.
I mean ICly I think it’s along the lines of “something something ANGER RAGE VENGEANCE DON’T LET THEM ESCAPE PANIK!” or maybe xenos know they’re going down with the ship or something, idk.
But at the risk of making up half-assed lore reasons to justify this, I think the main OOC logic is there’s no point in capping since it’s a hassle, waste of time, dangerous, unfun, and there isn’t time for caps to burst anyways. It’s kinda just one of those things.
Technically yes, you’re absolutely right capping is the most “HRP” thing a xeno can do in these circumstances. But the fact of the matter is most people don’t play xeno to roleplay; most don’t enjoy capping under normal circumstances. Most also don’t enjoy hijack, so it’s L+Ratio and people would rather
- get all their pent up rage out from not being able to kill planetside
- just end hijack as quickly as fucking possible cause fuck hijack
Once the Marines have evacuated from the planet, the game is over. The story is over. That is all there is.
Hijack is a small OOC mini-game where logic is thrown out the window, where the xenos get to go up and kill the Marines where they live while the Marines have to do a little mini-game to run away again, and everyone is on a ~20 minute timer.
If you approach it from the perspective that hijack is basically just a team deathmatch arena where lore and logic are ignored, then you understand why everyone acts in such a manner.
capping is fucking boring, it’s unfun as the xeno and the marine, it takes 200 years and it drags out the game on hijack
i don’t cap super often because killing is way safer, more reliable, more fun, and means that the round will usually last longer
if it’s presented to me, sure, ill do it
but lunging a guy and killing him feels far more visceral and enjoyable than le disarm spam to hive
on hijack, never, because capturing on hijack is bleak
Because before like a year ago, capping on hijack became detrimental since you wouldn’t get to know where the last guy on the map was, and admins sometimes had to manually end the game since it didn’t register them as dead. So now the culture became kill kill kill on hijack, and it has only been better tbh.
Alien: (mostly) unarmed crew, most people end up dead from it, with only two being captured to be eggmorphed in one version.
Alien Isolation: Kills most people you encounter, most unarmed.
AVP Extinction: while almost all xeno castes cap, the rav (which is unlocked near the end of the campaign) doesn’t because it’s a heavy assault/siege xeno.
Xenos don’t always capture people even when they can.

it’s always a matter of time. you have the choice between…
- spending 15 seconds tackling and devouring a survivor, then bringing them to the hive, infecting, nesting them, and then going back to the armed more dangerous hosts who are threatening your fellow xenos - all for a larva that might burst after all the rest of the marines die
- killing the dude and moving on to your fellow xenos to kill the remainder of the marines
outside of a rp perspective, there is something wrong with you if you want to delay another 10 minutes because le epic capture when you could just end the round (which arguably already ended after evac) for you and others to play a new one
What I’ve curious of, was there a queen in isolation? How were there so many xenos in one station
they went by Alien 1 lore. Where there is no queen, only drones. And they make eggs out of dead people.
Nah there was a queen it’s just she never appeared, i think you can hear her at one point in reactor core but she doesn’t make an appearance because people kept asking to fight her, which is more aliens then alien.
I didn’t know you could do that. Can’t they make royal eggs for royal facehuggers?
well, xenos are player and some times xenos just wana go for kill because they die as a human and wana some kind of revenge so they start killing and that it i think, and dont care about the RP part
