God, I never thought I’d be writing one of these…
This isn’t exactly news, as I’m sure you all noticed my lack of activity both in-game and on the forums, and this isn’t exactly goodbye either; I’ll still play the game on occasion, and I will definitely try to finish my medical guide some time before the next century, but this is more or less an affirmation to the community and myself that the days where I’d stay up late at night making copious amounts of meds and scrolling through the forums are over.
I have a lot of reasons for leaving this game. To name a few, I found other games I enjoy, real-life is getting busy and my addiction to gaming isn’t helping (though I still play other games…), people who I know are also leaving, and perhaps a little bit of outright burnout. Though one thing that should be made clear is that the community is NOT to blame. You have all been probably the primary reason I love this game, and even as many of those I knew have left for other ventures, the community continues to be something I can feel proud of being a part of.
Of course, obligatory list of people who made this game amazing for me:
- Cassandra ‘Boston’ Ellis and Janice ‘Foxy’ Lean. You two were some of the first people who had the patience to put up with my troublesome learning habits and made me love the medical side of this game as much as I have and as much as I do, even now. I’ve probably said this too much already, but thank you both so much for that.
- Sky Forfront, Griff Richtofen, and Jack ‘Trades’ Maemyosko. Some of my first “meta-friends” on this server. Admittedly, I didn’t really know how to react when I first noticed you all had considered me as a friend, but I will always be thankful you guys did. It’s not very easy for me to make new friends when more than half of my day is spent on the computer, but you all made me realize it’s not as hopeless as I thought it was.
- BlackDragon, SmellyHippie, Stalkerino, and almost all other moderators/admins from my time. For not banning me after I very suspiciously killed my own friend then myself as a doctor in Alpha prep (it’s a long story and I swear it was for a legitimate reason). In all seriousness, it was you all that warmed me up to the idea of ingame moderation and made me feel like I didn’t have to walk on tightropes just to have fun on this server. Not to say I NEVER had to mince my words or act in ways I would otherwise not have, but I did truly feel free to do what I wanted with you all in charge, within reason.
- DukeofCagliostro. I never knew you ingame, but you were always a cool guy to see here on the forums. Your activity probably inadvertedly led to my own large engagement in the forums in 2024, lol.
- A.A. ‘Gramps’ Silverton. The love, pride, and joy of Bravo squad. But more important to me, one of the first people in Bravo squad to really take me in as one of their own. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you on your last round, but if I were there, I would’ve been sure to tell you all this directly to you (as close as I can manage, anyhow).
Apologies if we knew each other and I didn’t write your name on this list, but I knew and loved being with ALL of you, and I can’t exactly repeat my medical guide and make this post 30 pages long. 
Welp, as for Zhu Cijue himself, his story isn’t exactly over. He joined the USCM for vengence against the UPP for the family he lost, but vengence is a prize with an infinite cost. The fervor has faded and the time for vengence is over. It’s time to go back and focus on the family he does have.
(I wrote all this, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I ended up having a “See you next week, Chen.” moment, lol.)
