BorisTheLove - Player Report: William “Jester” Crimson (CMP), Rule 4, Rule 11

What’s your BYOND key?

BorisTheLove

Round ID:

27663

Your character name:

Jess “Perma” McMathersson

Accused character name:

William “Jester” Crimson (CMP)

What rule(s) were broken?:

Rule 4, Rule 11

Description of the incident:

I don’t exactly know where to start since William had minimum amount of interaction with me. I guess it started with the UPP event where there was some UPP official comming aboard the Alamyer. Anyhow, none was stoked, and I showed that i didn’t like UPP. Don’t know if it was that, since there was a plethora on comms being not happy about it.

Then, after hearing a Private died in REQ line, and hearing people on comms saying the UPP guy did it, I went along way because i don’t like the UPP, and i belived it. Fast forward, i have now been AFK on the Alamo for about 5-6 minutes and wake up to being tazed down by said CMP. I don’t know what the fuck I did, and went dead fish (never moved or resisted), and repeatedly asked why I was being arrested. He just said “Disorderly conduct”. And I don’t know where he gets it from. I never went to brief, so that rules that out. Never fought or disrupted the REQ line, so thats also out. And I did not “Directly and intentionally disrupting primary operations of the ship.” at any point of the opperation.

And then, out of nowhere he also adds “False testimony”, even though I had yet to talk to an MP before he arrested me (and I never lied to said MP). And as per false testimony goes “To intentionally and willingly lie to an MP, or deputized officer, during a criminal investigation with the intent to disrupt said investigation.” I have no idea where he got that from, but that as well is just false.

So after he arrests me, he then takes me and two other specs, and tries his best alone to get us all to brig (this took 10 minutes). This was generally just abhorrent to deal with, and a right annoyence.

Note: I ahelped right away, and X31stOverlord responded asking for why i was arrested. But it seems he had his hands full and me and I came to an agreement to take it to the forums.

Evidence:

None, but should be clear in the logs.

My only contribution to this report is that the ASO Takashi in the Req line was speaking in either command / MP chat and telling MP’s to deal with people who were claiming the private died in the req line due to UPP as it could “cause a war” (which is valid in a RP sense), and I presume the MP’s took this literally.

Besides that I had 0 interaction with the MP’s.

Hey, I was Randy Pratt, the SEA that round.

The entire round was…a clusterfuck, to say the least. UPP Delegate getting gunned down by turrets, four arrests…

Here’s what I’ve seen.

Marines we’re alerted to UPP delegates arriving, and that’s where it all began.

Marine suicides on req line, marines go screaming on radio ‘THE UPP DID IT’ or something similiar.

Now, I didn’t pay attention to the radio chatter, but that sparked the first arrest. The chatter of ‘UPP did it.’ There were mentions of disorderly conduct, false testimony, and so on on MP channel.

MPs performed a dropship arrest (notorious for being risky and an easy way to spark a riot), Wayne (the pyro) decided to drag the person being arrested, which resulted in them being arrested for interference initially. (not surprised)

Then followed the SADAR, surprisingly landing two specialists in brig.

Now, there was a new MP, which could’ve been the major factor in the long ass processing time.

…Then came hijack, CMP decided to release them, and the two specs then spent their entire hijack stunlocking and running around with the CMP buckle-cuffed to a chair.

That was mostly everything I noted down during the round

I was SADAR (Hal Taggart) and I’d like to report CMP as well that round and my crime was stealing a MP’s tazer, I was doing some foolery and was about to give it to CO (CMP was also near them) and was flashed and arrested on sight without being told my arrest reason both in communications or verbal, and this followed upon by him adding “resisting arrest” charge when I did not resist (I’d like to say all of this could’ve been solved if he just gave me NJP instead of having me out of gameplay for whole round in brig) and having four other marines locked in hangar room moving each of us seperately and taking half hour just to even get us to brig, he failed to state our rights after processing as well and kept us tazing when were cuffed to chairs, me and pyro having valid roleplay reasons, had her cuffed on chair and was escorting them to safety holdout area (CiC) where we meet by XO’s bullets, he opened fire on us for not letting her go thats all from my side

(UPP had nothing to do with us by the way)

Timeline, prior to your arrest, I NJP’ed someone for DASO. 15 pressups.

Your arrest was ordered by the ASO, if I recall. We had an event with the UPP coming onboard, and you supposedly claimed that they were behind a marine who killed themselves, at Cargo, while the other MP was investigating (I arrived a bit later.)

Both charges were assigned moments after the arrest order after speaking with the ASO. I’d argue they are lenient charges, considering you’re accusing the UPP diplomat of assassinating the marine (which the ASO believed could lead to a war, and I agreed), the charge likely should have been something more severe

The new MP I had, read your charges (I was standing by, as I was trying to teach him) and people interfered. (One of the specs, another bravo marine), and you were dragged off.

The other MP was somewhat inexperienced, and was at the brig with a prisoner, and I had to remain holed up in the bubble, to avoid being mobbed again before transporting you, people were trying to interfere, so I stood tight, only stepping out to handle a spec with a stolen tazer, and the other spec (bravo pyro) who interfered (I wanted to avoid using flashbangs).

Once the DS launched, I was clear to go and moved you all, the other specs kept resisting, which slowed things down a little bit, near the brig, the new MP got jumped by a prisoner and I think cuffed to his chair. So, I had to intervene with that, before moving you all again, and helping the new MP process the prisoner, as he was struggling, before moving along and process each of you in arrest order.

We had the same prisoner who robusted the newer MP, stage a jailbreak, which I had to intervene with also.

I processed you, ensured you had your rights and appeal, then released you all when hijack happened. I freed everyone, despite not needing too, (I felt bad for you a little, which I mentioned before this report in the discord had your stuff delayed by specs doing the old Sulaco classic of thinking they’re untouchable due to their role.

The SADAR was carrying a tazer, which I presume was taken from the new MP, I point at him I believe 2 times, and walk in to him, we walk in to each other for about 2 seconds, doing the “push of war” before I tazer him.

I read their rights and crimes, and the resisting charge was added because they spent quite literally the full time trying to break out of cuffs, which you will see in the logs with me telling them to stop resisting, and them being tazed, flashed, moved, rebuckled and so on.

I ironically let the Specs go, despite it being optional and knowing they were salty/acting like lemons, but I thought I’d be a good sport and give them a chance, (I even mentioned they would probably try to kill me in comms to the MPs) and low behold they spent a good while stunning me on a table (which, is unresistable, not sure if thats a bug or not) before trying to feed me to xenomorphs and using me as a human shield, before they killed the XO who ordered them to release me, and then pushed me in to flames.

This was ahelped it (I’m a big fan of IC is IC as many people kow, if the roleplay was there, but this was a major interference charge, it was obviously OOCly motivated, and they were legit letting CICs marines get fucked by xenos, as two specs, so they could just try feed me to xenos lmao) and it was said it was justifiable because they were angry that processing took so long even, which is an odd precident to set, especially with the factors of a new MP who I was trying to teach , and their own behaviour slowing it down, the arrests were deemed valid iirc, and the specs especially incurred lots more charges I could have applied while they were in brig, such as DASO, disordely in confinement, and so on, but chose not too.

TLDR: Corporal arresting you while you were AFK earlier, people intervened, led to specs being detained and another marine, their behaviour slowed down the arrests, and people crowding outside bubble stopped us from relocating you, when combined with a new MP (who, funnily, got cuffed by one prisoner in the processing room and I had to go save him)

Gotta say. If you want to silence someone for something, you have to ATLEAST tell the guy you are silencing what they should be silent about. Because all of this could have just been dealt with by saying “Anyone spreading lies about the UPP delegate will be arrested”, instead of arresting one of the guys that just echoed what someone else said.

Because at the end of the round, I still didn’t know WHY I was being arrested, and still felt like it was blown out of proportion.

Edit: I also wanna see the absolute shitshow that would happen if the police jailed someone for speaking bad about the communist party during the litteral cold war. Imagine the news “US Military supports authoritarianism in the USSR by arresting anyone speaking badly about it”.

I think you missed the part where it was an officer ordered arrest. Which, the MPs are required to carry out.

Officer ordered arrest, lad, something you have to comply with, although it is something I’d have actioned myself in this situation too.

I also believe that I did mention it to you once you were within the brig, but I was also handling a lot of different things. So I couldn’t explain each persons situation while in an non-secure area, for obvious reasons. Easier to do it when you’re in processing in the brig or the cell

You also stated something extremely severe, you basically stated that another foreign nation, which was arriving on the vessel, killed a marine, over comms, while MPs are investigating what happened, while the UPP are arriving. Which falls under “yelling fire in a movie theatre” which isn’t actually covered under even American free speech, which, as a marine, you also do not have fully. The edit is also, not relevant and a false equivelancy.

Fair on the edit. But still, I was merely echoing what I heard on comms. I was not the first to say it, nor the last. I was just picked at random at something you could just take me to the side and NJP me for if actually needed (As it states in the Officers arrest:“In cases of Officer Ordered Arrests the Chief MP or Commander may order an arrested marine to get an NJP instead of a brig timer for Minor crimes.” And I know its not something you HAVE to do, but it would have litterary solved the entire thing instead of trying to brig me on the alamo, which you KNOW leads to a mini riot).

And if you say you couldn’t NJP me, then it says you can if its a sentence under 10 minutes, which it was.

Edit: And as for yelling fire. I was litterary going off what others said in the general channel. Its like being surprised more people yell fire because of panic. And if you again, had told me what it was about, I would have answered truthfully that I indeed, just echoed what was already said.

hi im the pyro spec

i dunno what happened with the other two but i will say, yes I did break ML. i don’t really give a shit because IC is IC, right?

my issue with Crimson’s arrest is that he immediately rushed me down, flashed me, then combined a pepperspray, then handcuffed and legcuffed me. the problem is that Crimson violated ML’s arrest procedure. at no point did you attempt to make conversation, RP, or really anything. you were essentially a robot.

hold on so…

you tase us while we are chaircuffed while we are transported, take 20 minutes to transport and brig us, which is a major oversimplification; then expected us to icly not take issue with it. not everything is an OOC attack against you, i feel if your dishing the shit you can take it back. i won’t speak on this anymore.

also they committed suicide over a req line cut if anyone is interested. i watched it.

TLDR: i literally do not give a shit about what happens IC because if i dish it out i can take it back. my problem is the mishandling of Arrest Procedure; i am a separate incident that got roped into it because of the god awful processing times.

My problem is the same as the pyro here. I was literally flashed and peppersprayed on sight without any hint of RP, and prior to arrest I was not told the reason for my arrest. He also added a false charge to my crimes, which is “resisting arrest”. I did not even move because I was stunned by CMP’s pepperspray and constant flashes. Also, after getting locked into a cell, we were not told our rights and also added the fact that he kept tazering us on chairs and, for some reason he took so long getting us transported, he wasted twenty-five minutes of our whole time just to get us on brig, by the time hijack happened (Around 0:55 if not mistaken) we were still getting processed (I’d like to mention theft charge could have been nulled because I returned the taser in one way, but this guy insisted on wasting fifty minute of my time without any RP)

I was an witness to these events and I agree with most of what has been said I just have an question in regard to crimson. Why did you not call for help from an commissioned officer when you had them all secured in the hangar security bubble?
I think that would have been faster then dragging them for at least 10 minutes.

The issue I have with this is, it’s just, kinda false, I was being dragged on to the dropship by a marine while rested, likely they thought I was SSD. (It’s either bug or some hotkey, but it happens suddenly and it stops me keeping up for a few), anyway I was almost at the dropship doors, when it worked, I stood up, and you were there, when I got up, I stunned you, as you actively were interfering with an arrest then fled when we tried to nab you in to the crowd.

The whole argument of "You didnt say “you are under arrest” when someone starts running is one which we’ve had over the years, if you’re aware you’re under arrest, evading the military police, being pointed at and all the likes which people claim, but thankfully, gone are the days where we needed a “STOP YOU ARE UNDER ARREST” macro for being who are fleeing. The first person didnt flee, so we could do the full procedure, which I was teaching the MP, you fled once and started to do so again when I got back up.

Also, the dragging did not take 10 minutes, it only got delayed because the other MP was getting robusted in the brig. The idea was to have him help me, when I got from the bubble to west hanger, but that was when he screamed for help. I also decided to relocate as a marine was lurking around and I had to warn them to “Keep their nose clean”, and decided it’d be quicker and safer for me to move them, than wait for someone else (we’d still have one prisoner unattended, moving 3 is much similar to moving 2)

Greetings. I was the W-Y responder that round. I can confirm that the whole “UPP being accused of killing a marine” thing did happen, and I even saw CMP drag off the body from the REQ line. And yes, UPP didn’t do it. Ironically, they were the most peaceful people on the ship (I was observing them for a prolonged time).

Also, yes, there was a confrontation between MPs & Command staff at CiC. Not like a stadoff, just a stern talk from CO (I think it was CO?).

Lastly, close to the end, I have witnessed CMP being dragged around on a chair, tied & naked by marines near CiC, which I thought of as a bit tastleless.

As for everything else, I didn’t witness any of it. You could argue that marines are going too far with cuffing a naked CMP to a chair during hijack and even (reportedly) killing him later is too far, but that’s an opinion territory, and I would like to stay close to the original purpose of posts on this topic. This is my testimony.

To note on the “Prisoners pushed CMP into flames killing him”, I was ghosted for it and it was just a random rifleman trying to run from xenoes (thats why he ran into the flames as well to flee them).

But it quite litterary did. maybe even a little more. Albeit thats for logs to decide.

you arrested me at 00:20. by the time i was sentenced it was 00:40. possibly more.

unless logs proves me wrong and so does my memory betray me.

We were talking about the dragging from hanger to brig, not the full time to arrest. relocate and process, arrest to JAS sentencing did take longer than 10 mins (unless my memory is failing), but as I said, we had a newer MP who got robusted and multiple attempts at breaking out the jail, as well at the constant resisting, which you’ll see from myself and even the new MP having to taze/stun/unbuckle the two specs and the other marine. (Only Jess McMathersson was the one not causing issues in the brig with resisting, and they were processed first out of the marines)

As for the flame situation, I am sure it was one of the Specs, not the QM (who was the nearby marine), but time has now passed so it’s a bit hazy, however the specs were using me as a human shield and trying to feed me to the Xenos while buckle cuffed and naked, so not much of a stretch either way.

Anyway, logs will show the timeline and situation unfold. Will probably hold off now until further questions are made.

As a ghost, I can tell you it was neither the SADAR spec, nor the pyro spec. Firstly, he didn’t have any special icon that specs, medics, whatever had. Second, it couldn’t have been pyro since the guy got set on fire. And thirdly, the SADAR would be easily visible with the rocket launcher, and has special armor which the marine simply didn’t have.

It might have been hard to tell being both injured and losing your headset. But as a ghost I pretty much saw it all happen.

I did not witness the CMP’s burning at the stake, but as stated in my original testimony, I did see him being hauled around on a chair near CiC during hijack. I vividly remember one of the people doing it to be a Bravo Spec (I think I remember it correctly), pyro (I think it was pyro, new spec icons look the same for me, but I remember the gas mask as well I think.).

Could be faulty memory, but I’m fairly certain.
