While I don’t know much about preds, this line from pred honor code seems off to me?
Prey can be considered temporarily dishonorable when:
”A target or group of targets who attack you without due cause.”
What is “due cause”? If a xeno attacks a pred they see, for example, because they’re a host, or are a dangerous threat lurking to kill your sisters, is that not due cause? Can a pred just shoot with plasma caster any xeno that attacks them first?
Same with marines, if you see a strange cloaked figure and you shoot, are preds allowed to plasma cast them?
I expect xenomorphs to attack predators on sight, they are sworn enemies that have battled for ages. Marines, I would say if you see a predator in the corner of your screen in cloak, don’t whip around and start unloading bullets all of the sudden. The practice of that clause largely comes down to the individual predator and some don’t really seek to take advantage of that dishonorable status. It’s also worth noting that if you do something that falls under that section and the predator initially chooses to fight you with honorable means, they are then voiding that temporary dishonorable status and any dishonorable moves without further reason should be reported.
The only thing im afraid of these “pred questions” is bad actors taking advantage of loopholes or whatever people might say here to get people dewhitelisted.
Playing for years ive just used common sense.
If you are healing another xeno fighting a pred most likely youd be in the crossfire by assisting them. Technically you are still dealing damage to them by providing HP to the one attacking them.
If you slash a pred for no reason expect to get attacked or plasma castered for being “LRP”. Why would you slash a predator alone when ICly you know that they can take on multiple xenos at once? If you are gonna attack one without being “LRP” then do it as a group. Ultimate life form but cant even tell that you cant solo a pred? Isnt that LRP already on the xenos part?
Yeah yada yada preds and xenos are enemies in lore. Then pred whitelist might as well kill all xenos planetside cause they’re mortal enemies but they dont cause it’ll ruin the game loop.
Fellow marine (while youre in the group) shot a predator while cloaked thinking its a lurker? Pretty certain that the pred will just ignore it unless the marine is actively chasing, find out its a predator and still keeps shooting it.
tl;dr unless you are asking for trouble you will definitely not get attacked by a predator You dont even need to know the honor code. If you are chill around the pred then it will be chill.
If you are fucking up xenos/marines then expect it to come for your ass for a duel.
Both questions really depend on what you are doing.
If you just walked up to the group and they are shooting a pred, chances are you’ll be left alone if you just run away and try to disassociate yourself from the group. Are you dishonorable by being one tile away from the attacking party? Yes. Will a pred hunt you down and HPC you just because you are dishonorable, I find it hard to think that they will since that isn’t the point of pred.
A pred can HPC a group of marines for shooting at them for no reason. More often then not, preds will ignore you or give you clues at what you are dealing with and/or just hunt you down through honorable means as it is most cases. But that doesn’t mean that they will HPC you any chance they get. They won’t because the HC isn’t a checklist of who can or can not be killed through dishonorable means.
Preds are intended to enrich the server and make it more interesting.
TLDR; Yes, you are but if you are not running down the pred and space yourself from the group, you likey won’t be HPC’d for just standing there.
Again, this also depends on what you are doing. If you just want to watch, you have the ability to go watch the duel using the remote view that all xenos get.
But the honor code says this.
If you are near a pred fight and you weed and give pheros or just decide to help out your friend by building sticky resin, you inherit the honorable prey status and at that point put your own head on the chopping block to help your fellow xeno out. So you will not be HPC’d for this unless it turns into a hive offensive.
However, if you are a carrier then under prey caveats of the HC it says this.
As a carrier, just being in the area of a pred fight will mark you as worthy since it’s assumed that you are trying to infect the pred. Therefore, the pred can kill you. So if you are a carrier, just spectate from the hivemind if you really want to watch.
TLDR; Depends on what you do. Like giving weeds and pheros or building sticky resin will make you worthy to be attacked if you interfere in fight or loiter as a carrier.
Is this actually a thing? Because I’ve been attacked unprovoked with no prior interaction by preds as xeno while backlining as runner/lurker and also once as marine, but all of these were a while ago so maybe it’s changed. Whenever I asked about it in the past I was just told that preds are antagonists and that they’re allowed to hunt people unprovoked.
A: a valid target (decently armed and armored/healthy human, not a officer before 1H, healthy combat caste xeno)
B: not currently engaged in a fight, healing someone, or doing something round critical
C: worth the effort, generally preds won’t go after less experienced players or those who are clearly less skilled, although this isn’t airtight and exceptions happen
despite common belief, preds do not need permission to hunt you assuming you meet the above criteria, and they don’t have to stop fighting you just because you gave up or try to run away
Didn’t know giving pheros was seen as joining the fight, as a lot of warriors tend to have a drone nearby for frenzy pheros when dueling a pred, but also:
Pred weapons temporarily cut the hivemind connection, so you literaly cannot do that. Only way is to watch it yourself, or watch someone spectating there in person.
But just giving pheros by itself won’t make you worthy. It says giving pheros and weeding. So you can sit and watch but if you intervene in a meaningful way you are worthy.
