Why do you wish to become a Fax Responder?
I think there’s a lack of flavour when it comes to background roles that flesh out the universe more, and in my experience fax responders have really helped me remember that there is a world outside of just the Almayer and the colony, and I really think there is a lack of people playing this role which imo really adds onto a round whenever they’re present for things I will describe in the next question.
What do you consider the purpose of this role?
Fax responder is a minor role during the round that assists would assist with flavour and generally giving a job like CL an objective sometimes when they are present, or giving them a fax when i notice it’s a new CL player detailing their job. I don’t think they should have a big impact on the round outside of provost/HC stuff, and that usually doesn’t hurt the main part of the game (groundside).
When would you consider it appropriate to use your phone?
Generally I don’t think there’s ever a good reason to use the phone since almost all things can be done through a fax. The only thing I can remotely think of is issuing some sort of order or giving relevant information that wouldn’t exactly need a second fax that I thought to include in the original paper, but even that seems a bit flimsy.
If playing WY Responder, what objectives do you consider within your power to give the CL?
I think the best objective to give a CL (Even though I do not have enough hours for W-Y fax responder) would be something for them to build off on, like investigating why the colony went dark/what happened on it, taking pictures and writing up a report on what they think happened.
If playing Press Responder, what objectives do you consider within your power to give the CC?
Probably interviewing different department heads on the ship like asking the CMP how they process inmates or how they are treated, or getting a story from a deployed marine about what was happening on the colony, little things that give them a set purpose for the duration of the round on a usually un-played role
