Description of the incident:

After the round end, or about to, one single Xenomorph i believe was left at that point, an OT came to the caves, where the old hive was raided to bring us explosives. He gave me some rockets, and also handed grenades to marines, after it was all over wanted to test them, aswell as other marines that had a grenade. Me and 3 other marines we were in a safe area inside the caves, no one else around us. We took enough distance to not hurt ourselfs, minus, some backblast or minor sparks and minor blast that always hits you. OT That round made different types of fire that were pretty, bright blue, pink, purple, etc, so we were testing them, we were not fighting, we were not killing anyone, and we were not intentionally generating combat logs other than sadly some sparks and blast barely reaching us for a scratch or two.

I feel like enforcing a EORG ban without warning for something that minor, specially when the intent is clearly not to grief, is a bit petty, we are not fighting, nor causing damage to friendly players other than a minor scratch to ourselfs if anything, by the sparks/blast or the wave at the very end of the blast (even when taking distance from the explosion to not get injured). If we are enforcing EORG that way, half the server should be constantly banned every so often then, wich is absurd.

Evidence:

Us casually talking and making fun of how marines would walk on the fire that we just witness more often than regular fire because of how pretty it was (No one was dead, or fighting) Minor injuries, some from previous fights, and some minor scratches from the sparks and blast.

I noticed that a series of combat logs had been generated after the round had ended, the round was getting close to finishing at this point. I jumped over to investigate and found no enemy forces to warrant the generation of these combat logs.

As per our current ruleset I instituted an automatic EORG ban on the perpetrator, the OP. The rules state, and I quote, “generating any combat logs with friendly players after the round ends and is an immediate 3-hour ban without warning”. Ergo I acted per that rule.

Jumped to investigate, and saw 4 healthy marines, no one dead or intentionally “griefing” yet decided to hand an automated EORG ban, just for the logs to exist, by the strictly wording of the Rule, and Generating logs, i assume we are then banning the other people aswell, or going to ban anyone from playing for any, and i mean any combat log, as absurd as it is, even if its a minor punch, or anything really out of strict importance. Technically, they also generating combat logs.

Zero tolerance, strict punishments, thats how we want to moderate the community i guess.

Just wanted to point out, that the first part of the logs where me and some other people got exploded and i also think someone died, or was hit by a bigger explosion with fire, was before round ended, and during clearing of the hive area or remains. (I remember someone either dead, or going green line on center fire of that explosion with fire)

Originally wasted one C4 there, when asked by someone to detonate it when clearing the hive or remains of it, as someone requested and pointed to me to an apparently unbursted monkey cap, wich hit someone unaware for moving a bit too closely to it (no big serious harm or dead). Someone blew up a custom c4 or explosive (by the looks of the logs, it was a grenade) south of us, (me) included in that area, that got me half injured and other people. (Unsure what they were blowing up, if a tunnel, or something else)

My other C4 was used in the east caves, as i mention in radio before arriving to that area. I didn’t answered the radio calls at first cause i was engaged in the pursuit of fleeing xenos and combat. Used my last C4 to breach and kill a hivelord that trapped himself and was spamming walls, so breaking them with melee was not efficient and we couldn’t reach the hivelord.

The rest, wich was at actual round end, was when i grabbed the Queen corpsed and moved it. At that point was me and the other 3 marines in the screenshot, trying out the different explosives and fire types that OT made.

Heya! I looked through the logs and some of the context to this situation.

I’ve recently changed the wording of the ruling to allow for a bit more leeway when it comes to a small amount of FF logs being generated.
I think in this case the initial EORG ban was accurate enough, since it was investigated and there really weren’t any enemies around.
Considering the extremely minor damage I can see the case for it being ignored, so appealing the ban it would have been appropriate enough to remove.

But this is also a risk of blowing up unknown explosives after rounded. I can understand wanting to do celebratory gunfire but using extremely expensive SADAR rockets that will cause an unknown explosion seems to push the definition of “Celebratory Gunfire” a bit far.
If command generated FF logs by firing an OB after roundend and trying to make sure everyone was out of the way beforehand I would have EORG banned them in a heartbeat. Yes, even if it was just a couple of sparks.

I’ve gone back and forth on this one but I am going to be denying this report. I dont see any malicious action from the staff member who banned you.
Blowing up random OT items after the operation is risky and unnecessary. I’m not telling you that you cant do that, but when you do that stuff you should be willing to accept the consequences when it goes wrong.
