What are you reporting?:

Violation of Event Protocols

Description of the incident:

Apparently there was a Minor? Major? event this round, dunno what it is, because the event notice/ooc warning is NEVER used.
To my knowledge, it was a normal round, at some point, Alpha Xenos were spawned and we had encounter them groundside. We fought some of them and destroyed their core in the sand temple. I was very active on radio comms, to my surprise, command response was minimal, if any at all. This is fine, we continue our round as usual, command becomes completely silent.

The more the round goes on, and Xenos attempt a major flank, wich i repeatdely yelled, and asked for help, no one in command answered to any of this, BECAUSE There was no command either in CIC or actually paying attention to the actual round for the past hour or so.

Somehow, some of the Alpha Xenos were in the CIC, and the entirety of command was “Roleplaying” or being with them all around CIC, Research etc.
This has caused a MASSIVE disruption to the round, The entirety of command was being distracted with this Alpha hive, later also Corrupted, unsure if the later were also spawned or part of the event.

Groundside was ignored, the round was ignored, allowing the groundside Xenos to do whatever they please pretty much.

The Spawned Alpha hive, ended up back groundside, giving the REGULAR hive more caps, in the form of monkeys.
The Corrupted ended up also allying against the marines

Causing a epic chaos of 3 hives to ally against the marines with multiple Queens and kings

I’d like to use this report also as a formal petition to have more transparency or clarity with events. If you going to disrupt a whole round massively, Announce it beforehand, or use the OOC EVENT INFO. Some of us want to play our Roles, and i’m honestly tired of events like this where is just chaos and people allowed to ignore their actual roles, while the rest of us must follow the server rules.

If i go running on my own as SL or Spec or any role expected of higher standards and following orders, i get admin PM’d right away or noted, but somehow, entire Command chain ignoring an entire operation because it’s a sudden event is fine. (I would also rather not participate on events, it’s often a LRP chaos wich devolves into further chaos, but since they are either not announced or OOC event info posted, i have no way of telling its an actual major event)

From the Event Guidelines page:
When running a major event, remember to set Custom Event Info, and it is recommended to ping @Event Notifications on the Main Discord a round or so in advance to let players know, and to make an OOC announcement during Lobby countdown.

For minor events:
can include minor perks or hindrances that give a slight edge or disadvantage, but do not disrupt the flow of the round.

Unsure at this point if it was Major or Minor since i don’t recall it being announced or pinged, and the OOC Event info was clearly not set.

Evidence:

Event hive meets with regular hive groundside in awkward interaction

Both queens and xenos of both hives meet in there at some point.

Hello, I was the Squire that round. We did not launch the DS nor did we put the monkeys on it. This was a birthday gift to the red queen. We never chose any side of the battle we remained neutral the inter time the red queen made sure of it. To clearify the GP launched the normandy and the only reason why the DS was not taken when we landed was because the red queen refused to let the normal hive take it.

I will not speak for Hale. The fun he had this round was worth more than every round that has ever happened on this server. If management disagrees, may they strike me down.

At no point did the red hive ever aid, or harm anyone. They merely roleplayed the whole round. When the first green queen decided to be hostile, I even revived them three times, and asked them if they wanted to continue on.

The smallhosts barely effected the round, due to hijack happening, and the main hive already had nearly 40 xenos.

When we arrived at CiC, the ASO was in charge. I do not know if there was even an XO awake at that point. We did not effect their command decisions in the slightest, and we were merely talking.

I will not be responding any more than this. Good day.

Was the XO for that round. Gonna recontextualize some of the things reported here. First, operations were disrupted primarily due to the immediate chain being disrupted. I had the ASO take charge between the two appeals I was sent to handle due to unrelated reasons, so he handled the operations while I was resolving those two situations. After that, I had to go SSD for a few minutes. By the time I returned, the red hive was already in CIC, and cue a few minutes at worst of negotiating ensued. Shortly after the situation on Research had both the red and green hive in the middle of a squabble (read, queen on queen combat). After getting bodyblocked by the green queen between the doors, needing to get the SEA to open the other shutter open, things were still stuck in a state of disruption, due to the fact people kept reporting on if the green hive was hostile or not. TLDR, no, this wasn’t a red hive problem as it was a green hive problem.

There was ASO, SO’s and XO. All of them [outside of the bubble] not using announcements, not responding to comms, i had called the major flank that doomed the operation multiple times to no luck. When i ghosted to see why cic is not responding to any of the screams about shit going off they are all outside of the bubble paying more attention to the event hive in cic. None is actually paying attention to the operation.

Besides, i will stress it out again, Please use the OOC Event info beforehand. I’d like to not play events period.

Also, you mention

But what i observe was them meeting, allying and working with regular hive. Monkeys being put on the dropship, and regular hive, even if irrelevant at the time, taking them for their own beneficial or being offered to them. Red hive came back to the ship walking alongside regular hive during hijack, weeding and actively participating near them, if this is not aiding them, i dont know what it is. What any marine seeing this must think? As both queens come walking and weeding together against them.

I knew you were handling appeals at some point, and when i was active at comms earlier, whenever possible you were using announcements, relaying lots of my info being shouted on comms, and my own orders. When most of us died to the flank, that i kept yelling and calling out, asking for help, i observed CIC, and everyone was around the red hive/event hive. Ignoring what was going on groundside. Some even lying down on beds and playing with the red hive. Leading to shit ton of marines unaware of current orders and, a flank that will doom and get many of us round removed.

First time that happened was me negotiating for them to observe the events of the round, which again, took minutes. Second was me making sure both queens weren’t going to turn Research into a new parking lot, which took way longer, which, was due to the green queen. Whoever was playing with the red hive was ultimately irrelevant, as I was the XO for the operation, and I only engaged with the red hive for minutes at worst.

I was a xeno from regular hive from roundstart and just want to confirm that from the start of the event (which began before marines dropped) we were made aware that the alpha hive was strictly neutral/observing and had pretty limited interaction with them once combat with marines began. To my knowledge they did not help us in any way, the 3rd picture of the event and regular hive “working together” was the alpha hive taking a lift on the ship to my knowledge they did not help us during hijaack. So from a xeno perspective relatively small impact

The event did not start at round start it starts close to but not at it. The event had nothing to do with command or xenos we sat there being peaceful to everyone and did not attack unless attacked

Regardless at what time the event start [wich to my knowledge, it was pretty earlier on the fight that we noticed alpha hive

To my knowledge, Most of the events, specially major events that disrupt a round need to be authorized. So, pretty much you have to plan it beforehand. Use OOC Announcement

Was playing during this round as one of normal xenos, wouldn’t call this a major event as you could easily avoid it by not participating and not interacting with Alpha xenos. To be honest this is the first minor event that I can remember that didn’t devolve into complete shitshow (well aside from some forest events when he spawned a flying xeno in research, those were also not announced). By the moment Normandy arrived with monkeys, normal hive already had tons of xenos and the King, so I highly doubt it changed anything at all. I don’t think it’s okay to spawn monkeys (if they were spawned), but it really didn’t matter.

Also I had some fun briefly roleplaying with Alpha xenos, if that matters.

I have no doubt some people had fun, many others, me included, didn’t. :man_shrugging: It was very fun for the entirety of chain of command to ignore comms or place a single announcement in a long period of time, and get half the marine forces killed because too busy playing with red xenos, that for all we knew groundside, were hostile (Alpha). And this is a recurring issue with many “major/”“minor”“” events, where a huge portion of the playerbase gets their round massively disrupted, ends round removed or other issues. Wich brings my topic to properly announcing events unless it really is something “minor”, this devolved into chaos and was a huge disruption to the round.

I would actively not play event rounds most of the time IF i knew there is a major event going on.

I was in this round as Tess Greed, a Bravoid PFC who did require the XO once for an appeal of a crime which would have taken some of his time.

Alpha did almost nothing, the majority of damage was when a MP provoked the greenos queen by shooting at her which caused the hive to rebel and kill shipside entirely

It was a very mild event, minor as could be. You could tell the alpha xenos were told not to get in the way.

Complain about the Command Members, not the staff.

Hi! I was the ASO during that round. As the XO player already said, was made aXO while they were handeling appeals. When I took over, IIRC, marines were pushing caves and besides ordering them to fortify chokes and asking req why they had not sent proper drops I was just watching dots on the map but couldn’t really do much more? I kinda suck at micromanaging the marines.

When the Alpha Hive came to my attention I told the CL to negotiate with them. Thought it would be good RP for them. Sadly the CL got on the wrong shuttle and missed the Alpha Hive. Thus they came to the CIC where I as the only person there(there was a very silent and absent SO IIRC) had to negotiate with them. And from my last look at the map the marines were just mopping up so I allowed myself a bit of leisure. I may have misjudged the situation. Again, not that good at command, especially taking over in the middle of it when I am not familiar with the whole situation.

After a bit the XO came back, talked to them(Alpha Hive) while getting the groundside in order, gave command back to me while he went SSD, then came back again leaving me to look at what the greenos were up to.

Apologies if the event disrupted your round, that was because I have a very one track mind and I guess the ground situation turned sour while I was distracted by the Alpha Hive. I did not look at comms, only messages from people in the CiC. Again, I recall there being a SO, but I dont think they did much.

Again, apologies.

Edit: This was also my second full round as ASO, only played SO(badly) and XO before as command roles.

Alpha Runner here that started the round as IO.

The Alpha Xenomorphs had not at any point antagonized anyone and were mostly an observatory force, the only way by which the round could be disturbed is via direct observation and interaction with them, which was only done at NE LZ1 and far away from the frontline for the first half, and even then, there was barely any RP done outside of exchanges between the xenomorphs.

The monkeys that were taken from us were taken without our consent and were given to us by marines after the ceasefire was made. There was a single monkey taken from us and that was when the hive was preparing for an overwhelming hijack, and even that monkey, was taken without our consent.

At no point had any of the xenomorphs engaged the marines even after multiple satchel charges in our face during our presence in research. Nor have we created any disruption after the Hijack save for tanking a few stray bullets for the xenomorphs as we made our way to the Alamo for evacuation.

Hell, we didn’t even kill the PO and friends after they murdered our Defender.

During CIC, marines came trying to feed the Alpha xenomorphs and attach IFF backpacks to us as we were trying to negotiate a simple ceasefire, I am not aware of the intricacies of why it took a few minutes, but once done, our Queen quickly departed, until finding out the Corrupted Hive.

The Corrupted debacle was mostly out of the way, and The Corrupted Queen that began antagonizing the Red Hive was revived multiple times in order not to affect the progress of Research. My only complaint would be here, but nowhere near a major one.

I personally even dislike events, RP and prefer vanilla gameplay (If my LRP notes would attribute) but I feel this was not a situation where the RP and event affected the round in any major way.

Alpha Red King.

I respect you greatly EMiiX but I gotta say this report is completely unwarranted against SmellyHippie and they quite frankly did an amazing job with the help of Seraphilian. I have zero idea regarding event protocols and the rules around them but the amount of roleplay that occurred was incredible and it was one of the best rounds I have ever had the privilege to be apart of.

It’s honestly amazing how things went in regards to everyone trying their best to roleplay the situation, from the normal Xeno hive to the Predator interactions to the Marines to the corrupted Greeno hive to even the Forsaken hive at the end. I have honestly never seen so many people from so many different factions get what’s going on in real time and elevate their own individual roleplay because of what’s happening.

In the second picture that you posted you can literally see “STOP FIGHTING” as we were butting heads against one another, not working together. The Alpha hive at no point directly assisted the main Xeno hive and if you really want to dissect the round actually did some damage to it by straight up absorbing some of their players who proceeded to be tame the entire round and focus entirely on roleplay. Hale was very adamant about being neutral between all factions and kept everyone in line at all times with the threat of gibbing, everyone in the Alpha hive was beyond well behaved.

At the end of the day I guess nothing I write really matters but I just wanted to say I’m very sorry your round was ruined and me being apart of the Alpha hive feel directly responsible for that no matter how small my role in all this was. I just have to take the time and defend SmellyHippie however, I truly believe they did nothing wrong and it was one of the most unique rounds with high roleplay and minimal impact that I have ever seen.

As the normal Queen of this round, I wish to give my perspective.

A Red Queen and Observer with a Synth spawned near start of round and came to negotiate with our hive. They allied with us but stated they were neutral, and I agreed to their terms as long as they did not come to our hive. They setup at Sand Temple and most of the round all they did was talk to Headhunters and Marines, and later went topside to “negotiate”. I largely ignored them as long as they did not attack us or help marines, which they did not.

The only other interaction I had with them was later in the round when King was bought, they came back down on Normandy and told us not to touch any talls (marines) on Normandy or the ship itself. I agreed as long as they did not get close to either communications relay or the King cocoon itself. We both agreed to be neutral and thats how it worked.

We broke into FOB with our own King, and the Alpha Hive decided to follow us with the agreed upon stipulation they stayed neutral.

This was agreed upon and we did not interact for the rest of the round besides some scuffles between the Red hive and our own.

The green hive, I have no idea what happened there or how an egg got topside, but they allied with us and helped us kill the rest of hive.

That was my perspective; we were given monkeys, yes, but that was AFTER we basically won the groundside fight and the King came out of cocoon like 1 minute later, and we already had around 35 xenos so it didn’t matter.

So some marines/humans are forgiven or ignored, but the rest are killed, a temporal cease fire with regular hive just to deliver your hive free monkeys?

Basically, but it wasn’t over yet, and also carries to hijack with extra given caps for no apparent reason.

And this was during still, active fight and fob siege, which CAS is being used to transport event hive + free monkeys to regular hive instead of doing Air support and their normal stuff to the same hive thats killing us.

I guess Research Xenos are just blatantly against the rules then if they will not negotiate and everyone who gets put into a Green Xeno must immediately be jobbanned and banned for breaking roleplay standards.

Anyways, the captures that were delivered to us were taken to the red hive location, and only one capture was taken by the hive, which I think also was the reason why Red Queen came knocking at the Queen’s alamo with a shotgun.

I don’t think ONE SINGLE CAPTURE, was making that massive of an impact.

And if JTAC was that crucial for this operation, I’m sure the PO could’ve talked to the Synth and inform them that they need to do a crucial firemission before transportation can be done.

This are not research xenos we speaking of, its the regular hive ignoring or negotiating with humans and not being hostile to a selected group of them.

Technically, one single Xeno can cause a huge impact on the round :person_shrugging: And yes, we can achknowledge round was mostly, lost after that flank which command was too focused on the event to even notice, so that cap (assuming it was only 1) wouldn’t be much of a difference afterall, but still.

Anyway, I don’t know exactly, how many captures(Monkeys) were being taken, but they were. I saw multiple monkeys transported groundside, and atleast one being taken, unsure if more. Besides, this is just a portion of the entire “event”. It caused a massive disruption on the round, either directly or indirectly, (which mind you, i’d be very worried having an entire hive/queen+king included in my CIC, and it will disrupt my round heavily, while also not knowing if at any point they will turn on us, you can only trust so much what a XENOMORPH tells you), impacted groundside, took off entire command attention away, took off CAS temporarely to asses the red hive, transport them, also taking monkeys groundside, while being temporarly friendly or negotiating with regular hive, pardoning a select group of humans breaking their own roleplay standards.

Which would be better if major event was announced properly, and i would had mostly opted to not play that round.

Edit: I’m gonna stop responding to this to not create endless discussions, i think my points were made clear. And i hope also to stress that i hope the OOC Event notifications get enforced/used in the future.
