Why do you wish to become a Fax Responder?
Fax Responder is a very lovely role that I had a lot of enjoyment in the past, from before it was made a full whitelist. It’s a fun way to interact with the round, in a way that I find very relaxing, but can still have lots of fun with. I really do enjoy making the universe feel more alive with my faxes, either to the CL, other survivors, or even members of the crew. It’s also a really fun writing exercise, that I found myself playing more often than not!
What do you consider the purpose of this role?
Fax Responder, is to connect the Almayer, to all the different parts of the in-lore universe we know exists, such as the wider company, the Provost, or high command, so that when someone sends out a fax, it doesn’t just disappear into the ends of D-chat. When we respond, it makes the universe feel much more alive, and even a single fax can create some unique roleplay, that you couldn’t get in any other way.
When would you consider it appropriate to use your phone?
Almost never. The only circumstance I can think of it being necessary, is when you’ve accepted an appeal as a provost fax responder, but the MP department is still carrying out an execution for the prisoner, because they have not seen your fax yet. The only other case I can think of, is with admin approval, and even with this example, I’d probably Ahelp first.
If playing WY Responder, what objectives do you consider within your power to give the CL?
In the past, as W-Y fax responder, my objectives given to them usually boils down to asking them for a report on the status of the colony, and then possibly giving them a couple of objectives after that, depending on various circumstances (like if there are survivors or not). A few examples would be asking the CL to interview the survivors on how the outbreak started, coordinating recovery of deceased corporate personnel and assets, surveying the colony on it’s chances of full recovery (I only give this one if marines are reported to be quite ahead by the CL). I would not give the CL any objectives that would/could impair the marines in any way (unless an admin asked me to forward a fax to them of course), like asking the CL to steal xeno corpses from research or something, and when I have had CL’s report that they are going to do this in a fax, I will instead order them to stop.
If playing Press Responder, what objectives do you consider within your power to give the CC?
The only objectives I would give them, is to document the round itself. I would be quite hands-off with the CC, especially since a lot of the time, CC’s are groundside and recording the marines for shipside TV’s. Though, if a CC did ask for specific objective during a round, I would ask them to try get an interview with a high ranking officer (being the CO if they are awake), or something similarly fitting.
