I'm a little concerned about Delta

I’m not really sure if I should be asking this question, it almost seems a bit like an insult but it really does worry me; do people play Delta just to be jackasses or something? I played two rounds last night as Squad Leader, once as randomly picked Delta (I normally play Charlie but they spawned with an SL), the other time I had to baby sit Delta, no seriously an exec told me “You’re on Baby Sitting Duty, Deal with it,” while I was leading Charlie. I know we all know the various jokes and various insults to Delta but… seriously, do people just play Delta Squad to be classic Greytiders or something?

Unironically alot of the metasquads play on Delta, so when they fuck around it’s usually a group of 3-5 people doing dumb shit, so it usually leads to alot of other deltas following them

there’s a lot of good delta players and a lot of retards

good players mostly know each other and stick to one another

You never heard of deltards? I mean one time Delta led a mutiny against command because MPs arrest their SL. Did you really think delta had anything more then 1 collective brain cell?

Delta like most squads, is good when you have people that rp, and can follow orders and SOMEWHAT frag.

SLing the squads has a different flavor at times

If you play a Delta SL you have to have hutzpah above all.

I’ve had a fair share of rounds on each squad as Squad lead and rolled a few rounds in the CIC. The three squads (discounting Bravo for probably obvious reasons) are really not as different as people like to portray them. It’s mostly a question of whether or not they recognize you or you’re engaging enough for them to want to spend time with you. This is not a Delta exclusive thing.

Delta is not that bad. Also Delta tends to have a few real good fireteam leads kicking around- try engaging with them next time. Fireteam leads are a real slept-upon resource and if you have at least one FTL main in your squad they’ll kick ass for you.

The deltard beatings (BEing marines) will continue until morale improves.

So I feel like I"m getting mixed answers to this and yet I’m seeing a pattern…

Is… Is Delta the old guard who just say fuck it and do what they want at this point? D:

No and yes, it entirely depends on the individual players who’re on.

The origins of the mythos of Delta trends back to the earlier days when people who could be described as “robust” coalesced around playing in Delta squad predominately.

While I won’t deny these players were robust, I’d argue that the reputation of Delta was thanks to the meta-cliques being formed in these days, as all these players would boost each other and collectively create a reputation of Delta squad being the premium hardcore squad of the best marine players. Weather or not this is 100% true is a matter of debate but as I stated, I’d argue this was merely optics and a dash of propaganda/self congratulating more so than truth.

Just as Bravo squad become the FOB squad. Delta gained a reputation of being being the elite players who acted rowdy but got the job done proficiently.

Naturally, this will attract many people to play the squad, all of varying degrees of player skill.

Nowadays, I’d state that the reputation has stuck but the question of a squads proficiently is really just based on who the heck is playing in a squad on a particular day. I’d state that each squad is more or less just as likely to be “skilled” on any particular round.

One day the chosen one will return and lead them to ungahalla as stated in the Deltard bible.

I do maintain that the squads have a nuance. Sometimes it’s massive and sometimes it’s not.

Delta can be particularly unwieldy sometimes simply due to size… and hits hard.

It is generally is a larger squad relative to player pop in the other squads and its marines are generally above average and/or very aggressive compared to like… Alpha.

That can be to their detriment though.

All squads do it but Deltas are I think the most likely to just keep assaulting a choke which seems impossible to break. Eventually, unless redirected for one reason or another they break on the choke or break through it.
