What is your Synthetic’s Personality?

Orest believes that life is ultimate gift from the universe. He does not believe in any special god, but thinks that life is something beyond understanding. That`s why he protects it all costs. He will try to help people in any way, from physical to psychological by telling them advices he know. He loves seeing how people live around him.

How will they react to the different ranks of the USCM, what would they talk about in a one on one conversation? What are their interests? What is an advertisement logline that could be written for them?

Orest reacts with respect to anyone on the Almayer because of his thoughts about life. He respects anyone who is in the USCM, and he takes orders seriously and tries to help as much as possible. If anyone tries to talk with him in an one on one conversation, Orest will tell his phylosophical thoughts about humans, how he is proud to serve and help life be. Orest is based on ancient greek phylosophs. He tries to teach humans all he knows about life and how to live, although he is not a living creature. He is glad to help anyone in need, even just by telling them simple advice.

Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?

I want to be a synthetic for better RP. I would like to be in a role of synthetic like Orest, and will be happy to get to any tasks I would be charged with. I know the marine law and played enough time as a human to know how Almayer works. I am a good doctor and can work as a FOB synth doctor easily, or help in the medbay (80% of synths do this as I noticed), and I am capable of other tasks too. I won`t break any rules, synth programming and marine law to stay whitelisted.

What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic?

Malcolm saved me. I was a smartgunner (as far as I remember) and got badly injured and hugged. I had more then 300 burn damage and 200 brute. My organs were almost destroyed. But Malcolm saved me. He revived me, fixed all damage, fixed organs and fractures, and then got me to planetsided medbay to get the larvae out. And then he cheered me up with positive phrases.

Synthetic Character Story:

USCM Almayer. Orest was charged to help in the medbay as a doctor. A hugged and burned marine was delivered to medbay for the treatment.
Nurse: Orest, there is new wounded, come here help me treat him.
Orest: Sure, Joe
1 minute later
Nurse: He is hugged and burned as hell
Orest: Yes, I see, revive him first, then I will perform surgery.
Nurse: I am grafting his burns on the upper part of the body.
Orest: First of all you should give kelotane and dermaline if avaible, and graft after that. Do not waste time
Nurse: Oh… indeed, I am sorry (starts feeding marine with pills)
Orest (while grafting legs): Time is a valuable thing for living creatures like you. I am not affected by it as much.
Nurse: I will get old and die, and you won`t
Orest: You are absolutely right. But I am forever to serve humans and protect them, and you have a path to choose.
Nurse: I am sure will retire when I get old enough.

2 minutes later

Orest: Burns treated, now I will defib him
Nurse: Sure, doc

After the defib marine wakes up and stands shocked

Marine: Oh thank God I`m alive, those fuckers got me.
Orest: It is not over yet, you are impregnated with alien. I must do a surgery to take the larvae out, come with me.
Marine (shacking violently): Oh hell… Fine, synth

In the surgery:

Marine: It hurts awfully, my… chest…
Orest: It is larvae inside you, another living creature. I will get it out of you, you won`t even notice.
Marine: S-sure

After the successfull surgery

Marine: That is all? I am alive? It`s out?
Orest: Your life is safe, I made sure there is nothing to worry about now.
Marine: Oh God thank you! I thought it was over for me
Orest: My duty is to save humans like you. And I am happy to do that.
Marine: Yeah, your program, or whatever it is.

What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.

If someone attacks me, I can disarm him and knock him on the ground so he is no longer a danger to me. If it is someone of the USCM stuff, I can call MP to arrest him. But I`m not allowed to use any firearms because of my program.

I may have not a long story, and may not be that popular as a character. If my application succeds, I`ll try my best as a synth, learn as I play and get better. I will try to keep my whitelist and not break any rules. Thanks for understanding

Hi, i’m not apart of the council/WL in any way, but I think I should give you some advice regarding your story:

I think it’s too short, but like I said - I’m not a council or WL holder.
This person’s story was just a bit larger than yours - and still got denied (VonSartre - Synthetic Application)

I also think this area is meant for xenomorph combat, not marine, but I myself am not too sure.

Also, I’ve not seen your character a lot, and for someone as chronically online as me, I think you should get your voice out, start talking in the discord more, make some friends that you can stick around with, stick with a squad, and branch out to some command roles to get popular.

For the third/fourth time I’ve said this, I’m not apart of the council/WL in any way, so take my advice with a grain of salt. :slight_smile:

I am not sure why you haven not seen me yet, maybe we have different timezones, but I`m online almost everyday, usually in charlie squad. Been a XO a couple of times too.

About combat: I am not sure too, but synths shouldn`t engage in combat with xenos as far as I know. Even if they do, firearms are forbidden, only melee.

This is the direct quote from Synthetic Programming, so they can preform combat.
I’d wait for others’ advice before doing so, but I think you should withdraw your application for now and try later, maybe write a longer story and such

Thoughts:

  • Orest is almost definitely not an acceptable synth name, especially considering it’s the name of your main character
  • Your story is too short and shows some formatting & punctuation errors. I strongly recommend making it longer and putting it in a google doc.
  • Your combat answer only covers marine vs synth combat, ignoring the far more common case of xeno vs synth combat.
  • Your familiarity answers should be more detailed.
  • Your quirk itself is alright, but the way your synth talks seems antithetical to the point of synth quirks (making synths more “human” while having variety).

I won’t be voting on this considering you’ve expressed your wish to withdraw. However, I think you have some good motivation and could make a good synth next time you apply.
