Synthetic Info:

Name of the Synth Character you wish to play:

Jackson

Provide a short description of your synthetic’s backstory

Jackson was developed as a safety specialist, and can be trusted to work alongside engineers, mechanics, architects, just about any labor intensive work crew from space vessels to civilian infrastructure to active military bases. Jackson was designed with a categorical knowledge of most modern safety regulations, alongside the standard suite of engineering, medical, and logistics expertise.

Jackson was adopted by the USS Almayer to fill a manpower shortage in the engineering department, with the bonus of being able to fill in for doctors, cargo technicians, most given roles aboard the ship.

Describe your synth’s personality without mentioning their skills or previous professions

Jackson’s personality would be best described as “administrative minded working class” and is expected to be in the metaphorical (or literal) trenches with people of humble means rather than attached at the hip to a high ranking officer or executive. Jackson units are typically receptive of day to day issues with coworkers, and often adopt terms of endearment when appropriate to enmesh with whatever crew he’s a part of.

How would your synthetic interact with enlisted personnel, officers and civilians? How could you involve your personality into these interactions?

Enlisted - Jackson attempts to become “one of the guys” and will gently give out guidance and assistance as needed without ruffling feathers, as grunts are a varied bunch with often conflicting personalities. Jackson’s working class nature means he gets along with these roughnecks at a peer level, and will hear out their gripes and grievances about command with a smile.

Officers - Jackson around officers will be more mindful of formal protocol and procedure, and is experienced in dealing with red tape, but is still capable of personable interactions with the officer corps as is needed. Jackson will be naturally suited to a role similar to an enlisted advisor, bringing up concerns of the men in a tactful, honest manner.

Civilians - Jackson will treat civilians with due respect and will be careful not to make them feel like an afterthought among the military personnel. Jackson will be quick to reassure any survivors of their safety and security to keep up their confidence in the face of a distress signal, whether he’s a colony synthetic or part of a marine relief force. Without training and discipline that the marines are expected to have, he knows that maintaining civilian morale is a frequent requirement.

Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?

I love the sheer versatility of the role, able to dip in and out of different positions as the need arises. I think ASO is a good go-between to practice for synthetic, but the real deal requires a lot more knowledge and the ability to weave roleplay in and out of mechanical interactions. I think after spending some time excercising my RP muscles as yautja, I’m ready to try this.

As for why you should whitelist me, I think I can add to the quality of roleplay in a given round, and a lower enlisted/working class minded synthetic would be a welcome break from the norm.

What is your most memorable interaction with a synthetic?

CLF Synth named John saved me on the ship, revived me, and accompanied me through the maintenance halls as my team were being cut down. We celebrated as the fascist ship USS Almayer was brought down to the colony, and desperately tried to find me a weapon as xenomorphs stalked the halls. When we encountered drones and a marine, we got split up, and ran separate ways. I think I should have stayed with john, as I ran back into maintenance into the arms of a warrior while he managed to escape to medbay.

Synthetic Character Story:

Skills:

How familiar are you in CMs support roles such as medical/engineering/requisitions/command and which of them are you more and less proficient in?

Medical - proficient. I used to main medical back in the day and the fundamentals of it are mostly the same. I might need to brush up on my chem line as I haven’t done that in a while, but I remember it being pretty easy. Engineering - Very proficient, I play comstech often, I know how to load an OB, put together a basic grenade, fix an APC or coms hub, and make a half decent barricade line. Req - proficient, I can run a req line solo and take care of supply orders decently well. Command - this one is hard to judge myself on. I like to think I’m proficient and I have been playing SL/FTL a lot lately to practice. I know how to call in supply drops and OBs, how to call out important targets, how to use issue-orders, and how to keep a team organized.

What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.

Synths cannot use weapons or emplacements of any kind other than setting up backline sentries.

You may kill a foe if it is impossible to disable or otherwise dissuade them from harming you or someone under your charge, like a xeno backing you into a corner and preventing you from leaving as they try to slash you to death.

A facehugger near marines if they are in range and nobody else is nearby and capable of killing them, but you shouldn’t go out of your way to look for them.

If an enclosed defensive location is under attack, you can repel the attackers or chase them out of the fortifications.

The priority for combat should always be self preservation or the protection of someone directly under your care, and you should avoid putting yourself in places where combat is required.

+1. Anna Bow is solid and competent. Would be a good fit for the WL.

Whenever I see one of Kooarbiter’s characters in game, be it Ezra Bass or Hult’ahnok, I can always rely on some solid roleplay. Great person to interact with out of game too, I confidently believe he can maintain the standards of the Synth WL. Honestly, I’m a little scared of Jackson, and can’t wait to meet him in-game. +1

+1 I can’t speak to competency on support roles, but from the RP side of things I can say for sure they are up to snuff. It is unfortunate Clanker WL might take time away from pred.

+1, good to see your app up. Already can be trusted with RP and strict role guidelines based on their pred WL membership. No doubts about competency or familiarity either. Would be great seeing Jackson onboard
