It is rather simple. I just like to teach new players how to play the game. I just like explaining things to people who dont know about the subject.
Nobody really taught me how to play the game at first when i started. Only a nice Doctor who had a japanese accent taught me the basics of medical. So i atleast want to try that newer players have the chance to get a mentored.
What gameplay areas do you know and which areas are you strong and weak in?:
My strongsuits as of now are: Engineering and Medical
I started with Medical and moved to Engineering. I accumulated quite some hours on both topic. Iam well versed with the basics and more advanced knowledge. Even with some niche gimmicks. I feel even more competent to teach and guide newer players in my strongsuits since my first attempt.
As of now, iam familiar with most jobs/roles and how to get around with them. I can teach new GPs/DPs and DCCs, for example. Also i can help out with OT and somewhat with research, but i have to restart playing research, which i quite earlier before the rework hit. But i think i can relearn and adapt to the newest changes.
My weakest point as of now is MP law. I barely ever properly learend them nor do i play MP much to ever be confronted inquisitively about it.
How often are to able to play CM?:
Lately ive been playing daily for atleast 4 hours but most of the times up to 8 hours. But in one month Uni starts for me, so maybe less?
A screenshot or transcript of your human and xeno playtimes:
Hello there! I have returned for a 2nd attempt for Mentor! I have increased my playtime overhaul and branched out into different jobs and roles since my first attempt!
You have a wide range of experience in both marine and xeno hours, which is a huge plus going for your application. However, there are a few aspects in your current application that I would like to bring up.
Understanding marine law is one of the mandatory requirements of being a mentor. Not only do you have to understand it to the extent of being able to perform your duties sufficiently without breaking any laws, new CIC players such as the XO, or new MP players and other personnel will often turn to you as a SEA to provide advice in marine law matters, and you have to understand the law to the extent that you can comfortably teach these players how to function in their role and operate as per marine law guidance. For example, would you be able to provide any marine law advice for a new XO might think itâs a good idea to rush all four squads to caves from operation start (with noone building up FOB) and the reasons behind your advice? Or how you would teach a new MP player to handle a dead CLF synthetic survivor that was brought shipside?
The SEA role also has a 20 hour minimum requirement of MP hours to unlock as well, and I highly recommend that you play MP and learn about Marine law before you proceed with your mentor application.
While I can see that you would like to genuinely give back to the community, SEAâs are also expected to maintain high roleplay standards and it has also been brought to our attention that you do tend to have LRP tendencies when you interact in-game.
Overall, while I have no doubts that you have a solid grasp of understanding core aspects of the game and you have a genuine desire to teach new players, there are still some areas I believe you could improve on before you are accepted as a mentor. For the aforementioned reasons, I will unfortunately be giving this application a -1.
Having CMO and ASO experience works, and as above said, SEAs should know about ML, like, what would you do if a MP asks you about how to use the MP console, how to permabrig someone, or the procedures for Delta Alert for these prisoners.
All of these things need to be answered in a few seconds, Iâve seen you play and you know how to improvise on the spot, so I donât doubt that if you try MP some more, and post your MP hours in this app, you will give more confidence to others in +1ing your app
for now Iâm leaning to give you a positive upvote, but Iâm posting here to: say I know you, I trust you, but you need to make others trust you as well, do MP rounds. 10/20 hours will be enough.
It took me a solid before I decided to reply on this application, from what Iâm seeing you are a well-experienced player within the engineering, medical, and main combat roles within marine side, and same goes to the xenomorph gameplay hours. That is a good thing for a mentor, surely.
While I mostly do not have anything else to say in general after the huskymaru commentary, I wish to give you a urge to carry on and keep going for this one. Handle those Military Police hours, and please, try to get more roleplay situations in. You oughta prove that you can and willing to RP proper, because sometimes weâre seeing some situations that just seem to stick out of the regular RP flow from your side, while the RP expectations are extremely low for a general rifleman, this is important.
I am also unsure about your command skills, so focus on those two - command and MP. This is a minor setback if you can do what you need to get done.
For now, I am refraining from providing any +1 or -1. You are a solid player, but there are items that need to be fixed and ironed out immediately, otherwise your chances of becoming a mentor will have to wait until the next time you can apply again. Goodluck, marine.
Iâve seen comments saying that their RP might not be the best, and I agree that that was the case a few weeks ago, but so far Iâve played a fair share of rounds with Elisa, and I notice that theyâre trying to improve their Roleplaying abilities, which is greatly appreciated to see in CM.
I have also seen Elisa playing MP multiple times, which leads me to believe that theyâre trying to improve on previous feedback, like the lack of MP hours and a few problems with their RP abilities. Apart from that, I also believe that they would make a great mentor, only by seeing the amount of hours theyâve dedicated to the Marine Role itself and how they keep calm in most situations.
I will give my +1, as they are showing proper determination in wanting to actually become a mentor by improving using feedback.
Following up on that, I agree that Elisa has the experience needed to be a mentor, and Iâve seen them playing MP a lot lately and putting effort into improving both their RP and their knowledge of ML. I havenât personally seen any extreme LRP, but if others have and itâs the reason this app gets denied, Iâd encourage you to reapply in the future after showing that you can keep in character, MRP-HRP consistently. In any case, itâs a pleasure playing with you and I hope to prae again with you soon!
I like your presence and your vibes, so a hearty +1.
I think you are someone who likes to continously improve, and I already think you are a good fit; all you have left is to become a great fit.
Good:
one of the most helpful xeno players i can think of. Even in dchat, you explain nuanced stuff; âwhy did this strategy not workâ, âwhy does this prime xeno do this thingâ; âwhy are survivors doing x and not yâ. You parlay discretionary decisions in an understandable way, and you may not be aware you do it, but itâs a skill. youâre definitely able to guide people beyond mechanics.
other people might be thinking of chair fights as LRP. I like a little color on the floors before deployment, as a person who sits on the Alamo and doesnât make anything at all happen. Others might think itâs misguided in the way it comes out, and thatâs neither here nor there, but I appreciate willingness to make anything at all happen
You ball hard as marine and are good at reading the game. Harnessing that a little extra as a marine, especially if you can get a PVT to rock with you and be a battlebuddy would be awesome to see. I feel like you could get a PVT to kill a queen.
For consideration(?): just be conscientious about MPs; give their rank an examine before joshing them too hard CPL MPs taking on anything pre-drop is intimidating. Give a chase, get away, but keep in mind beating them up or getting them stuck on the DS during deployment might spike their anxiety.
One of the spots I think itâs okay to be LRP is giving comfort to new players; it might make sense to smack an MP IC. I think itâs also okay to let the Divine Grace of OOC You intercede so they just go back to the CMP like âaw shucks I didnât get them â versus a CPL getting entangled in something they feel compelled to resolve and it leading to them groundside.
Youâre a great presence and have a lot to give. And nothing you do is from a misguided spot, itâs just sometimes about considering one extra ~perspective~ of a scenario. But you are very approachable and calm and willing to give others a peek inside your knowledgebase and those are all readily commendable and all too uncommon traits! I really respect you.
All the best on this!
Edit: also sorry this is long Iâm in a rush and might come back and prune this later so its not so overwhelming did my best!
Yeah hello there!
Iâve decided to take a longer break from CM. Lately, iâve gotten to mad about the game. Before i go to far one day, i take a CM detox.
So iam taking a longer break! Probably 1-2 weeks more.
When iam feeling like iam ready to come back with even better RP, iâll try for a 3rd time! Third times the charm, yes?
