Please do it, I beg memetainers to do it. The guy is a military officer, they get a sidearm of their choice from their vendor and yet they suck just as hard as the CL at firing it.
Make sense to me.
Might as well give the Field Doctor the skill too
(Also why is the recommended firearm for CMO is the m44?)
Okay, sure. Then give MPs medical skills. What, police doesn’t know how to do advanced first aid? Untrained? You’re joking!
Better yet, give Corporate Liaison intel skill. What? It’s basicly just bureaucracy & paperwork. Something he’s already adept in. He’s the one who sorts out intel when ASO cryoed and half of IO’s are dead anyway! These four crates of intel wont process by themself, so at least shorten the CL’s suffering of spending 30 minutes in comp lab decoding disks and reading paper scarps, manuals, folders
You know, giving intel skill 1 to CL due to him being a paperwork monkey and medical 1 to MP’s who are supposed to at least give basic aid to prisoners is not a bad idea.
Military Doctors having basic firearm training feels appropriate.
Was this an ancient oversight when we swapped from Civilian to Military doctors or intentional?
I always thought it was intentional due to the direction of Hijack in general.
Hijack has become less and less soul and more and more slop with the addition of fuel / pumps that lengthen the Hijack process artificially to punish marines for failing to win the planet.
Giving firearms 1 to doctors would increase the firepower of the marines shipside since more and more “civillian” roles can now actually hit something and not have their screen shake a thousand times.
Swag. You cannot tell me that the M44 revolver isn’t the coolest sidearm available to the CMO, feasability in combat aside.
Ive gotten some funny kills with CMO revolver. Made for some good entertainment
I always forgot that doctors on board are MILITARY doctors and not civi doctors, it doesn’t really give a big downside since doctors aren’t really allowed to deploy outside of FOB, and the fact Field doctors are the main doctor that deploys
Every Marine is, first and foremost, a rifleman. All other conditions are secondary.
Give CMO and Doctors FA:1|Give nurses FC:1|Add Doctor playtime to CMO requirement. by Aurallianz · Pull Request #8807 · cmss13-devs/cmss13 · GitHub <3 we shall see if it gets merged
If you only knew how poorly the new ranks were implemented for docs and CMO.
When it was done at first, CMO despite now an officer and in the chain of command had no access to the main CIC console unlike the other department heads.
Today we just have this half measure where docs/CMO are considered officers but only in name. Personally, I think it would be better for research/medbay to become civilians again as it’s more interesting RP and character wise than them being military.
It’s wonderful to have nurses be able to do firearm carry. Since at least half of the people don’t know how to do it
I feel like it may have just been an oversight
No reason not to. Many in this thread have already made excellent points. Should be an easy fix.
To be honest, mine was a shitpost, but alright
IRL medical officers wouldnt be in the chain of command as theyre not line officers like the CO and XO and are not eligible to take command of a ship.
Everyone onboard who’s part of the chain of command should have basic knowledge of how to use a gun. Because everyone should of went through the basic training. Also theres no reason not to give doctors fire arm skill as they’re not civilians but part of military structure. And for it to make even more sense why Doctors should have fire arm skill is because they’re in the middle of fuck knows where and can get boarded by CLF at any moments notice?
Holy based.
Altough doctors getting FA lvl1 is excesive ngl. RFN are the dedicated combat role and it makes no sense that someone that specializes in medicine can somehow fight just as hard as a military rifleman.
CMO was the exception because it’s only 1 person, so it’s not heavily disrupting balance-wise and because the stakes of the CMO are high as hell, the guy needs to be able to reliably defend himself and the MedSci department.
